EN→zh-CNOK, let’s summarize in the end. This generation of the Magic 8 series is still very excellent and very versatile. The appearance ID continues the family design, and there are clear breakthroughs in camera and AI. The performance release during the test was truly impressive to us. But the main keynote of the Magic series—camera plus AI—has not changed.

EN→zh-CNThere’s little to nitpick about the Honor Magic8 Pro. The hardware is excellent, the cameras do a great job, it has a great battery life, and it’s clear that the design is well planned. The AI integration has improved, and the updated processor handles intensive tasks and gaming with confidence. Fans of Honor might have noticed that the 12GB+512GB model now retails at S$1,499, which is a S$100 increase over last year. However, the Magic8 Pro is still relatively affordable compared to other flagship smartphones, which are firmly S$1,600 or far above that price band for the same storage, display quality, connectivity advancements, and AI tools. The Magic8 Pro doesn’t deviate too much from its previous formula, but the refinements they’ve picked this time around are all very welcome. If you’re still trying to get a flagship-grade phone in a time where prices are all shooting up, this handset might offer some relief.

EN→zh-CNThe Honor Magic8 Pro is a mature successor to last year’s Magic7 Pro. The improvements aren’t revolutionary, but they hit the right spots: the telephoto camera is now among the best on the market in low light, the AI integration with Gemini works far better than before, and the 4320Hz PWM dimming of the screen is a real plus for anyone who uses their phone for many hours a day. The €1,300 price tag is high, but it’s still slightly cheaper than the competition from Samsung and Apple. And unlike its predecessor, the Magic8 Pro no longer feels like a compromise – the Chinese smartphone is a real alternative to the Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro. There are still bumps in the road. MagicOS 10 takes some getting used to, especially when it comes to notifications and background apps.

EN→zh-CNThe Honor Magic 8 Pro achieves what it set out to do: serve as the company's flagbearer coming into 2026. It boasts some of the best performance in the business, a well-rounded (if unoriginal-looking) user experience, with a strong focus on AI, and an improved camera system that addresses some of its predecessor's notable shortcomings (rather than simply just cramming in new features). I still don't think Honor's strides in new AI functionality are industry-defining, even if some add genuine utility. MagicOS also remains a decidedly unoriginal redressing of Android, which offers a confusing blend of polished and unoptimised tools. However, the company's willingness to extend software support, plus the phone's long-lasting, fast-charging battery, help to up its value proposition over previous entries in the series. But for UK/EU buyers, it's still a shame we're not getting the absolute best hardware version of this device.

EN→zh-CNThe smartphone market is more competitive than ever, with Honor now well and truly established as one of the main brands in the flagship smartphone market. The Magic8 Pro feels like 2 steps forwards (processor and telephoto camera), and at the same time 1 steps back (fixed focus selfie camera). The lack of auto-focus on the selfie camera puts it at a disadvantage compared to Samsung, Google, and Apple. You can now buy a flagship phone from all the brands, and you really do have to do something really impressive to stand out, as they’re all capable of giving you extremely good photos, and with strong integration with Google AI features on Android phones.

EN→zh-CNI've grown to really like Honor's phones and devices over the past few years, and it's now incredibly easy to recommend Honor phones as viable alternatives to Samsung, Google, OnePlus, and other brands. The company offers plenty of reasons to use its phones, including better displays and cameras, longer battery life, faster charging, and strong ecosystem integration with its other devices. Honor could improve the video-capture experience when recording at 60FPS, especially in low light, and the phone's overall UI still needs a bit of improvement to match other brands.

EN→zh-CNThe Honor Magic 8 Pro is part photography upstart and part AI canvas in how it approaches still photos, relying more and more on what machine learning can do along the way. The phone features the first CIPA-rated 5.5-level optical stabilization system for its 200-megapixel telephoto camera, though it’s not immediately clear whether the rest of the rear camera system receives similar physical upgrades. The AI-driven software plays a big role in what kind of images you can produce using all of the cameras.

EN→zh-CNIt’s wild to have a phone like the Honor Magic 8 Pro come out so early in the year, as it really sets the bar that a lot of other manufacturers will have to match in 2026. Now that I’ve experienced night-time photography on the level that Honor has achieved here, I can’t ever see myself going back. To have these cameras pair with the type of class-leading display that Honor is typically known for, just makes the Magic 8 Pro an absolute joy to use, and I don’t envision anyone being disappointed with this handset as their next upgrade.

Comparing the Honor Magic 8 Pro vs OPPO Find X9 Pro, two of the best flagship Android phones in 2026. I've reviewed both smartphones and here's how they stack up for camera performance, gaming, battery life and beyond! Check out my full videos on the Honor Magic 8 Pro and OPPO Find X9 Pro here on Tech Spurt. If you're after one of the best camera phones of 2026, this pair offer the Pixel 10 Pro XL a serious bit of rivalry. Both flagships offer a sizeable main sensor, capable telephoto snapper and respectable video capture. The OPPO Find X9 Pro was my favourite mobile camera of last year, but the Honor Magic 8 Pro is an excellent alternative. It's just as capable, if not more so, in low light. Plus, you get all the usual AI photo editing shenanigans.Gaming is a slick, smooth experience on both phones too.

EN→zh-CNIs the HONOR Magic8 Pro worth it? Well, sure, especially if you want the best HONOR has to offer. It’s amongst the most powerful phones in the market, that’s for sure. It offers great performance, improved software, very capable cameras, and great battery life, amongst other things. I wish the shutter was just a little bit faster, most of all, but that’s not something that will bother all that many people. The HONOR Magic8 Pro sure is a great option.

EN→zh-CNProbably not, given the strength of the competition. The Magic 8 Pro offers a comprehensive flagship phone experience, complete with extensive software customisation, a versatile camera system, a great display, good battery performance (with faster than average charging) and a long update commitment. However, the likes of the OnePlus 15 and Google Pixel 10 Pro/Pro XL will be better all-around choices for most people. And of course, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is likely to be just around the corner.

EN→zh-CNThe Honor Magic8 Pro is an excellent phone held back by its software — but less so than previous Honor devices. The cameras are stunning, the display competes with the best out there, and performance is flagship-level throughout. On specs alone, you could argue it's the best smartphone available right now. The price is definitely premium at £1099.99 in the UK (~$1,474 USD), but if hardware quality and camera performance matter most to you, it might be worth it.

EN→zh-CNThe Honor Magic 8 Pro is a proper flagship, worthy to go against top dogs from Apple, Samsung, and Google. The phone sports all the right ingredients and ticks all the right boxes to deliver a true flagship experience. From the super bright AMOLED display to the fast chipset and the powerful camera system, the Honor Magic 8 Pro delivers. Some might find the interface a little derivative and the new AI button not the most original thing out there, but the implementation is great, and all the AI features are actually quite useful. The Magic 8 Pro is not a cheap phone, and it can be hard to get in specific regions of the world, but if you're willing to take a chance and try something different than your popular flagships from the big three, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

EN→zh-CNThe Magic8 Pro builds on the lineup's strong points, without making too big of a splash. It delivers a solid camera experience, so long as you're mostly focused on stills, and it will test your ethical boundaries with its AI-enhanced low-light performance. Its video quality is a bit behind the curve though, and selfies have gotten worse compared to the previous generation - what's that about? Camera aside, the phone's doing great on the fundamentals.

EN→zh-CNIn my humble opinion, the Magic8 Pro has a better camera system than the best iPhone. It’s also objectively on level-pegging terms when it comes to performance, and the battery is far more convenient thanks to that fast charging. It can also slot fairly seamlessly into your Apple ecosystem, and even plays nicely with iPhones. The problem? It’s the Magic8 Lite. It’s cheaper, has an even bigger battery, and some wild robustness claims (I fired a staple directly into its display during the press briefing, and there wasn’t a mark on it afterwards). It’ll be enough for most people and is probably the only Achilles heel for the Magic8 Pro.

EN→zh-CNThe Magic 8 Pro is another solid flagship from Honor, improving on the previous iteration with a superior telephoto, solid image stabilization, and one of the cleanest night-shooting camera phones I’ve ever used. Despite not having the biggest cell on a current flagship, battery life is excellent, and the phone looks and feels great in the hand. However, a few minor but nagging drawbacks just hold the phone back from greatness, with some aggressive processing, inconsistent HDR, and poor video stop it from competing for my personal camera phone of the year.

EN→zh-CNThe Honor Magic 8 Pro doesn’t take too many steps forward, but those that it does are meaningful. While its design and basic approach are familiar from last year’s model, it’s made genuine progress with competitive software support, a brighter and more accurate screen, and a significantly larger battery. Performance is excellent, too, while the camera system continues to offer a lot to like – especially when it comes to shooting with the telephoto camera in less-than-ideal lighting.

EN→zh-CNThe timing of the Magic8 Pro's global launch means the phone-buying public's attention will soon be stolen by the Galaxy S26 series, if Samsung's rumored launch window is anything to go by. But don't let that detract from the quality of the product we have here. U.S. buyers will likely want to go for the OnePlus 15 or Google Pixel 10 Pro XL if you're after a big and capable Android flagship right now, assuming you don't want to wait and see what Samsung has to offer. But if the Magic8 Pro is an option on the table for you, then you'd be crazy not to consider it.

EN→zh-CNOne thing that I love (again) about this phone is the face unlock. It is unlike anything I have previously used. HONOR says in its documentation that it uses 3D Face Recognition, and it really shows. When I pick the phone up, it immediately unlocks, so I only have to swipe from the lock screen. I literally cannot fault it. It seems like it does not require you to point your face to the screen at all for it to recognize you and unlock; it is just super fast. The same can be said of the fingerprint sensor; it is quick. Time will tell if MagicOS 10 slows to a crawl. I think OS slowdowns affect all handsets;

EN→zh-CNAfter a few weeks of testing and day to day use, there’s no doubt that the HONOR Magic8 Pro is as an impressive and polished flagship smartphone. It delivers strong performance, excellent battery life, an impressively bright OLED display and some of the loudest and clearest stereo speakers you are likely to hear on a phone. EN→zh-CNHonor has basically taken everything that made the Magic 7 Pro such a compelling flagship and turned it all up another notch. The brighter screen, bigger battery, dedicated AI/camera key and improved zoom lens are all highlights. Secure facial recognition continues to set the firm’s phones out from the Android competition (Google Pixel aside) and there’s no denying performance is absolutely blistering. So why does the Magic 8 Pro get a lower score? Simply put, the 2026 competition is fierce. Gigantic battery capacities are becoming the norm, and rivals are doing their own thing with software rather than just rehashing Apple’s latest design trends. Serious snappers are also now starting to demand lens add-ons and camera grips, however gimmicky, to go with their new handset.

EN→zh-CNThe Honor Magic 8 Pro feels like a very confident statement from Honor. It is not chasing a single headline spec at the expense of everything else. Instead, it combines a sleek design, a genuinely comfortable in hand feel, a bright and eye-friendly display, and a camera system that is both capable and fun, then backs it all with a huge battery and long-term software support. It is not perfect. Video colors could be richer in some scenarios, the shutter can feel slow, and the price is firmly in ultra-premium territory.

It is not perfect. Video colors could be richer in some scenarios, the shutter can feel slow, and the price is firmly in ultra-premium territory.

EN→zh-CNThe HONOR Magic 8 Pro doesn’t try to redefine what a flagship phone is. Instead, it quietly refines what one should be. It delivers power without excess, features without clutter, and performance without instability. It doesn’t shout about itself, and it doesn’t need to. Its strengths reveal themselves gradually, through daily use and long-term reliability. If you want a phone that impresses you once, there are plenty of alternatives. If you want a phone that continues to impress you months down the line, the Magic 8 Pro is one of the most compelling options available right now. In a market obsessed with doing more, the Magic 8 Pro succeeds by doing what matters — and doing it well.

EN→zh-CNOverall, the Honor Magic 8 Pro offers a well-rounded camera experience, with strong exposure performance, pleasant color rendering in photo, and good detail in bright light. While it shows some limitations in video consistency, low-light performance, and autofocus reliability in more complex scenes, it remains a capable and versatile camera solution for most users. In detail, the Honor Magic 8 Pro delivers a solid overall camera performance, providing reliable results across a wide range of common shooting scenarios. Target exposure is generally accurate, supported by a wide dynamic range in both photo and video, allowing for effective preservation of details in highlights and shadows in most conditions.

Everyone seems to be obsessed with the Pro model this year, but the standard Honor Magic 8 might actually be the smarter buy. I put this phone through some rigorous testing—from controversial battery benchmarks to high-end gaming—and the results were honestly surprising. While other brands like Xiaomi and Vivo are getting all the attention, Honor has quietly tuned this device to outperform dedicated gaming phones. However, the battery life results came with a catch that I discovered during testing, and it involves how the phone handles scrolling speeds in apps like Weibo.

EN→zh-CNI was very impressed by the Honor Magic8 Pro's battery life. With its 7,100mAh battery, this phone can last around 1.5 days on average for my usage. In fact, I often end the day with over 50% battery. In PCMark's battery test, the Honor scored 12hr 49min, which is excellent, and quite a bit longer than the Vivo X300 (11hr 58min). If you're looking for a flagship smartphone that's more affordable than the ones from Apple or Samsung, while offering similar and sometimes even better performance, especially for battery life and photography, the Honor Magic8 Pro should be on your shortlist. It's one of several impressive flagship devices from the Chinese brands, and starts at a competitive price of S$1,499 for the base 12GB+512GB model (S$1,699 for the 16GB+1TB model). Get from Honor's official store on Shopee.

EN→zh-CNThe Honor Magic8 Pro carries forward its predecessor's DNA but refines certain aspects of the user experience. It's a camera-centric phone with top-shelf specs and a great build, but it hasn't gone all flat and angular and has kept some of its curves. It’s not all sunshine and roses, though - the EU version does get a reduced battery capacity. The cut isn’t as severe as what we’ve seen from some competitors (looking at you, vivo X300 Pro), but it still feels bad when other manufacturers manage to keep their larger batteries intact. Devices like the Oppo Find X9 Pro and the OnePlus 15 prove that where there’s a will, there’s a way. The Honor Magic8 Pro won't be launching globally this month, so stay tuned while we give it a thorough assessment before you have to decide if it’s worth your hard-earned cash.

Honor's new flagship phone is here and I've been using it for the past two weeks across three continents. There's A LOT to like with the phone, starting with a gigantic battery (7100 mAh for Asia and 6200 mAh for EU), the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, and a new 200MP Periscope zoom lens that appears to be the HP9 sensor. There's also a new AI button, but for now it is a work in progress. Still, Honor's software is excellent, and the phone is a flagship powerhouse.

EN→zh-CNThe Honor Magic 8 Lite marks itself out for the long battery life, which is exceptional given the price. The high level of protection and the long software support puts this phone forward as a device you can invest in and keep for many years, knowing that it will last. The fast charging and the display are also obvious highlights. This is a mid-range phone, though, with core performance reflects that, combined with a camera that will just about get the job done but isn't hugely exciting. The software it launches on is an out-of-date version with some issues, too. There's competition in this space, but the battery experience of the Honor Magic 8 Lite leads the way. If it's higher performance or camera that's your main priority, however, then look elsewhere.

EN→zh-CNWhether the Honor Magic 8 Lite is worth buying all depends on what you expect from a phone. Its key strengths are its insanely long battery life, its durable design and its lovely OLED screen. If you're looking for an affordable phone that you'll rarely need to charge and don't need to be careful with, but you don't fancy carrying a specialist rugged phone, then you'll fall in love with this one. It's an excellent alternative. It's the other aspects of this device that let it down. The cameras aren't very impressive, and the processor won't keep up with demanding tasks like 3D gaming and video editing, either.

EN→zh-CNThe extent of the durability here is very impressive, and I’m very happy to see Honor improving the software support, but make no mistake, the key draw here is battery life. If you are sick to the back teeth of reaching for a charger during the day and don’t want to pay flagship prices, the Honor Magic 8 Lite should be your next smartphone. Simple as that. Honor putting all its eggs in the battery basket, however, has inevitably led to other areas feeling neglected: the performance isn’t dire enough to hamper most users, but the lack of camera improvements is a more difficult pill to swallow. There are phones half this price that have better cameras, which is not a good look for the Magic 8 Lite.

EN→zh-CNThe Honor Magic8 Lite is not the phone for spec chasers, and that is exactly its appeal. It is built for people who care more about getting through a long weekend on one charge than hitting the highest frame rates in the latest game. If you can live with “good enough” performance and the main cameras that are solid but not flagship level, you get a phone that feels light in the hand, tough in daily use, and genuinely low maintenance to own. Where the Magic8 Lite really wins is in how all those choices line up around a single idea.

EN→zh-CNHow much do you care about Honor consciously a lot for your money in most, if not all, areas? That’s not really what the Honor Magic 8 Lite is about, at least not when compared to rivals like Nothing and OnePlus. Here you can find an incredibly breezy, low-maintenance phone. The battery lasts forever, it doesn’t overheat, and the screen is bright enough to look clear in all situations.

EN→zh-CNIt might not be a generational leap on the hardware side, with performance that’s merely OK for the money and cameras that are starting to show their age, but the Magic 8 Lite impresses in other ways. It’s truly built to last, with a sturdy construction that you simply don’t see among affordable phones and a gigantic battery that can go for days at a time. Being an Android version behind the times isn’t much of a deal-breaker when six years of updates are promised, and though the ultrawide camera isn’t much to shout about, the lead lens can take some pretty tidy snaps for an affordable phone. If you’re on a budget and want the most endurance possible, the Magic 8 Lite makes a lot of sense.

EN→zh-CNThe global launch of the Honor Magic 8 Lite is still some weeks away, but the early UK premiere gave us a glimpse of this interesting mid-ranger. There are some really strong selling points to this phone, the most important one being the amazing battery life. If there's such a thing as a three-day phone nowadays, the Honor Magic 8 Lite is it. The display is very good as well—bright, vivid, and crisp. You get pretty clean software with a sparkle of AI and Gemini on a button, plus a decently long software support (to be verified). Now, there are some drawbacks as well. The camera system is not spectacular, and while you can get some good shots with the main camera, the ultrawide is uninspiring.

EN→zh-CNHonor impresses with a mid-range winner that sports the largest battery and fastest charging speeds in its class, plus a build quality that's made to last for a very long time, with class-leading drop and ingress protection. Performance is generally excellent, and the software is full of fantastic features. Launching with Android 15 is a bummer, but at least it's got six years of promised OS updates in Europe. I'm not a fan of the flat sides or the cheap haptics, and the camera can be frustratingly slow, but something's got to give at this price range, and these aren't terrible trade-offs.

EN→zh-CNThe Honor Magic 8 Lite offers truly unmatched battery performance. If you hate having to charge often, you'll love this phone. Enhanced aesthetics, increased durability, speedy charging (when you do need it), and a lovely display all sweeten the deal, but lackluster performance and middling cameras ruin the fun. With the Honor Magic 8 Lite, the battery is undoubtedly the star of the show. It has the same massive 7,500 mAh capacity as the Oppo Find X9 Pro, but when combined with its lower-end energy-efficient chip, it lasts even longer. I'm not exaggerating when I say that four days on a single charge is quite easy to achieve with this phone. The Magic 8 Lite's construction has been significantly upgraded this year, too.

EN→zh-CNThe Honor Magic8 Lite is one of those updates that doesn't scream "new generation" through raw specs, but wins you over with how thoroughly it refines the formula. The star of the show is unquestionably durability - this is a mid-ranger that flirts with rugged-phone territory without looking or feeling like one. IP68/IP69K certification, resistance to high-pressure water jets, immersion up to 6m and drop protection rated to 2.5m are huge upgrades over previous Lite models and easily one of the main reasons to pick this phone over its rivals. Pair that with a large and bright 120Hz AMOLED with HDR10 support, excellent fingerprint reader and solid stereo speakers, and you get a genuinely pleasant everyday experience. The fundamentals are all covered too.

This near 6.8-inch mobile looks like its flagship sibling but sports a more budget design. You've got several upgrades vs the 7 Lite, including an even more massive 7500mAh battery, one of the biggest of any mid-range mobile. No surprise then that the Honor Magic 8 Lite is one of the top budget battery blowers as we hit 2026. I've also spent this week testing out the dual lens camera and here's some photo and video samples, showing what this smartphone is capable of. It's limited for sure, but not bad.

The Honor Magic 8 Pro Air is a new near-flagship from Honor that is very light (155g) and thin (6.1mm), but from the naming scheme to color options to camera module, it is a very clear iPhone Air copycat. To me, it's tacky, but if you don't mind, this phone offers great specs and performance for its small form factor.

EN→zh-CNThe Honor Magic 8 Pro Air was announced in January 2026 and is set to release shortly after. It stands out as an ultra-slim premium phone at just 6.1mm thick and 155g, making it one of the lightest high-end devices around. The build uses a glass front and aluminum frame with IP68/IP69 resistance for dust, immersion, and even high-pressure water jets. On the front sits a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED panel with a sharp 1216 x 2640 resolution, around 461ppi, plus Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, and a huge peak brightness of up to 6000 nits. The screen also supports 120Hz refresh rate and 4320Hz PWM for comfort. The phone ships with Android 16 and MagicOS 10, keeping the software clean and flexible.

The Honor Magic 8 Pro Air offers a similar thin and light smartphone design to the iPhone Air and Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge, but with a bigger battery and seemingly upgraded camera tech. The Honor Magic 8 Pro RSR Porsche Design is here and it is essentially a more premium version of the Magic 8 Pro with more RAM. The camera system is still the star of the show here, but if you like the Porsche Design branding, this is a collector's item worth a look.
