It offers decent performance levels, but not so decent that we’d be happy to put up with the compromises made elsewhere.

Asus' VivoBook S510 is both lightweight (3.7 pounds) and light on your wallet ($799). It doesn't blow away more costly desktop-replacement laptops, but it'll serve cash-strapped buyers well.

The Asus Vivobook S510UA is a disappointing laptop that shows promise in some areas while falling completely flat in others. Performance is very strong and the quick-charge feature is a nice addition, but the poor-quality display, terrible battery life and lacklustre build quality all conspire to undermine it.

At first glance, the Asus VivoBook S510 seems like a clear winner, thanks to its premium design, lightness of weight and sharp, colorful display. Unfortunately, this attractive laptop has several annoying problems that compromise the user experience, including short battery life, a laggy touchpad and one of the worst webcams we've ever tested.

It will go on sale with a $499 starting price (roughly £390 or AU$670), though no word yet on when it will be available. And as my colleague Luke Lancaster points out, if Asus can make something that's pretty close to the MacBook for such a low price, it's probably a good deal.

The Vivobook S 14X OLED is notable for one thing: its screen. That such an exceptional screen is available at such a low price is a great thing to see. That it’s being paired with an H-series processor is all the more notable. But I very much question the target audience; how many people who need an H-series processor and are willing to sacrifice portability for its power are content with integrated graphics? My best shot at labeling this group is: someone who really wants a cheap OLED for media consumption. This might be a great option for a college film studies major. More money for an XPS can get you better speakers, battery life, build quality, and graphics — but if you are very budget-constrained and the screen is your top priority, then sure, get this. For everyone else, Vivobook is a great proof of concept but less practical as a purchase. Devices that are exceptional in theory should also work in practice. They are not artwork; people use them every day. With battery life this bad, it is not a practical purchase. It is quite cool, though.

The problem with the Asus Vivobook S 14X is that I have a hard time figuring out exactly what category this fits in. I wouldn’t call it a creator laptop; after all, I edited all of these photos on it and frankly, it was lacking when it was on battery life. And at the same time, people that want a productivity laptop would be better served with a U- or P-series processor. Still, you do get a 2.8K 120Hz screen for $1,100, so there’s a lot of value there.

The Asus Vivobook S 14X is a challenging laptop to rate. Its performance is inconsistent and generally slower than it should be given the fast CPU, and its battery life is poor. Its build quality is also a bit less rigid than I like. But it’s only $1,100 with a competitive configuration and a spectacular 120Hz OLED display that’s better than those on much more expensive laptops. In the end, the performance and battery life hold me back from recommending the Vivobook S 14X. You might have to spend more money, but there are better 14-inch laptops available today.

The ASUS Vivobook S14 OLED starts at Rs 74,990, and for its asking price, delivers quite a bit. The 720p webcam and missing memory card slot are mere niggles, with the laptop scoring high on aspects like performance, battery life and keyboard ergonomics. The OLED screen, of course, is the aspect that might draw you towards it, and with good reason – it’s gorgeous and extremely capable, topping off the laptop’s wide repertoire of features and capabilities that make it an all-round work and entertainment machine.

The ASUS Vivobook S14 has an excellent OLED display, which is one of the highlights of this product. The device is very powerful and can maintain its performance even during long work sessions. The compact design and good battery life make the ASUS Vivobook S14 a good choice if you are looking for an OLED notebook that does not compromise. The retail price for the ASUS Vivobook S14 i5 variant is Rs 75,000, and the i7 model costs Rs 95,000. If we compare the Vivobook S14 to ASUS’ own Zenbook, you get the same display and chipset, with similar performance for a much lower price. So, the Vivobook S14 is cheaper in direct comparison to the Zenbook series. The Vivobook S14 is certainly a worthwhile option with everything it has to offer. The ASUS Vivobook S14 is an excellent option to consider with its OLED screen, performance, and plenty of memory to work with. It can also be regarded as an affordable Zenbook as the gap between the Vivobook and Zenbook series has been narrowed this time.

It is clear as day that the trump card of the Asus Vivobook S14 is its display and a 12th Gen Core i7 processor. The laptop is not going after earning brownie points for its design or high battery life. It offers you a system which is great for entertainment, regular tasks, light gaming and endless internet browsing. The question at this point is whether the USP is justified at the price of Rs. 74,999 when you can probably get the MSI GF75 Thin if you’re a gamer or Dell Inspiron 7000 if you want a device with consistent performance in the same price range. And the answer, at least for me, is yes. Asus Vivobook offers something unique in the world of laptops. When all laptops either try to be the most powerful or the slimmest and most portable, Asus is trying to be a great entertainment box and there is nothing wrong with that. So, if you are someone whose primary use case is watching movies and shows on Netflix and Disney+ Hotstar alongside basic office work and you do not have a requirement of going outdoors frequently, then this laptop is definitely for you.

The ASUS Vivobook S 14 OLED for RM3,999 is a great laptop for work and light entertainment as it is portable and has great thermals. However, you do need to keep in mind when using its built-in speakers to watch any videos or attend any online meetings but I do think that it is not a major drawback as most of us use an earphone when we are outside.

The Asus Vivobook S 14 Flip OLED is a showcase for what convertible 14-inch laptops can offer at an affordable price, with an attractive, premium-looking 2-in-1 laptop design, efficient performance, and an attractive OLED display — but it’s not without its cracks.

The Asus Vivobook 14 Flip S is a moderately priced hybrid laptop with a 360-degree hinge, Asus's customary dual-purpose touchpad and a powerful processor. Highlights include some loud and confident-sounding speakers and a keyboard with a much snappier feel than most of the competition. A few parts are a little odd, though. The Asus Vivobook 14 Flip S's colour reproduction is poor, unusually so considering this is a hybrid lifestyle laptop. Asus chose to use a fairly low-capacity battery in this model, too, meaning it struggles to last through a full day of work, while gaming performance does not hold up well even next to laptops with the same processor.

Laptops have gotten expensive in recent years, especially with many cheaper models being sold out last year. At $690, though, the Vivobook S 14 Flip is a breathe of fresh air in the world of budget laptops. For the most part, the Vivobook S 14 Flip manages to balance price, quality, and performance, making it a reasonable value in an increasingly competitive market. The Asus Vivobook S 15 OLED excels as a capable work machine at an affordable price. It offers commendable performance, thanks to its 12th Gen Intel chip, delivers quality on-screen entertainment with its 15.6-inch OLED display, and can (kind of) get you through a full day of work. Oh, and its special Asus Antibacterial Guard is a nice touch for those who like a clean laptop. While it isn’t the premium laptop that some may be seeking, it matches a majority of their traits. Its webcam leaves much to be desired, and its keyboard and touchpad are your standard fare. However, these are qualities that even laptops over $1,000 struggle with, and its highlights outweigh its more disappointing qualities. Plus, it’s more understandable on a laptop that has a starting price of $899. If you are looking for more power, those interested can bump up the specs to have even better performance. Sure, the Intel Core i7 model brings the price over $1,000, but it’s still better than a lot of its competition. For more of the best laptops under $1,000 and best 15-inch laptops, look no further.
