Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy S22+
The plus (+) in the product name suggests additional features, and the Samsung Galaxy S22+ delivers as ordered. It offers all the features that distinguish the renowned Galaxy S22 but goes one step further, especially in terms of display and battery.

It’s early days for the S22 line, but we like what we see in the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus – and we think you will too. It’s a good design and has a great feel. The screen is expansive, colorful, and responsive. Front and back, the mix of cameras and capabilities seem right. It’s not skimping but also not necessarily pushing any barriers either (for that, look to the S22 Ultra).

The Galaxy S22 Plus seems like a very promising flagship phone, given its attractive design, promising cameras, and the very latest silicon chips onboard. We’re going to need more time with the phone to give you our final verdict, but from what we’ve seen so far the device seems to have the ability to pick up from where the Galaxy S21 Plus started off.

Out of the three Galaxy S22 models to arrive, we feel the S22+ fits into that sweet spot the best out of the lot. It's slightly smaller than the S21+ from before, adding refinement to the familiar design. That it's got a flat screen, not a curved one like the S22 Ultra, and doesn't dabble in S Pen stylus integration - a feature that we're not convinced all S series users will want anyway (that's what the Note was for) - seems all the more contemporary for a 2022 arrival. And while the Plus' cameras are identical to the smaller S22's setup, the added battery life of the bigger model will bring that little more assurance. All in all, then, while the generation to generation updates are unremarkable, the Samsung Galaxy S22+ might well be pick of the 2022 bunch - and an example of a top drawer Android flagship where refinement rather than reinvention can go a long way.

The Galaxy S22 Plus is in danger of falling out of the limelight. With the S22 Ultra catching admiring glances and the regular S22 shaping up to be a great-value option, the S22 Plus is a bit of an oddity. Sitting slap bang in the middle in terms of price, it doesn’t really stand apart, either, and it might be difficult to earn a recommendation when it eventually arrives on my desk for review. In the meantime, however, I’m going to try my best to remain cautiously optimistic. If there’s a big boost to battery life, then it could well be worth it for that alone. The Galaxy S22 Plus is available to preorder from today, with a release date scheduled for 11 March. Prices start at £949 for the 128GB model, with the 256GB variant costing £999.

The S22 and S22 Plus should be reliably good phones with premium design, great screens and nippy internals. Time will tell just how good their new camera system is, and whether the phones can hold their own against the 108MP behemoth – the S22 Ultra, or other champs like the iPhone 13 Pro and Pixel 6. Early impressions are unabashedly positive for all three of Samsung’s S22 smartphones, with the S22 in particular set to be the slim phone lover’s choice weighing just 168g and measuring 7.6mm thin. Meanwhile, the S22 Plus is a OnePlus 9 Pro competitor, with its larger screen and sub-£1,000 price, while the Ultra, which you can read about in our S22 Ultra hands-on, delivers S Pen input, even bigger visuals, and a top-tier camera system.
