Apple iPhone 17 review: Sometimes boring is best
Source: Ars Technica English EN→zh-CN
The screen is one of the iPhone Pro's best features, and the iPhone 17 gets it this year. That plus the 256GB storage bump is pretty much all you need to know; this will be a more noticeable upgrade for anyone with, say, the iPhones 12-to-14 than the iPhone 15 or 16 was. And for $799—$200 more than the 128GB version of the iPhone 16e and $100 more than the 128GB version of the iPhone 16—it's by far the iPhone lineup's best value for money right now. This is also happening at the same time as the iPhone Pro is getting a much chonkier new design, one I don't particularly love the look of, even though I appreciate the functional camera and battery upgrades it enables. This year's Pro feels like a phone targeted toward people who are actually using it in a professional photography or videography context, where in other years, it's felt more like "the regular iPhone plus a bunch of nice, broadly appealing quality-of-life stuff that may or may not trickle down to the regular iPhone over time."

77% Apple iPhone 17 review: The iPhone you should actually buy
Source: Phone Arena English EN→zh-CN
If you've been holding off on upgrading from your older iPhone, now is the perfect time to do that, as the iPhone 17 finally addresses most of the hardware elephants in the room. We finally get a very bright and super-smooth display on the base iPhone, which had been limited to 60 Hz for far too long. The wired charging speed also scores an important upgrade that cuts down the time your iPhone has to spend plugged in. The camera continues to be extremely dependable and consistent, and you now get a plentiful 256GB of storage to house all those pictures and videos you capture. Pair all that with the fairly sensible pricing, and what you're left with is pretty much the perfect iPhone for just about anybody.

91% Never Mind the iPhone Pro: The iPhone 17 Is Probably All You Need
Source: CNet English EN→zh-CN
The baseline iPhone is never really meant to turn heads when stacked against the rest of Apple's lineup. But a handful of notable upgrades on the iPhone 17 make it a worthy contender if you're in the market for a new device that ticks the basics. Improvements to the display and camera help the iPhone 17 feel like it's really worth that $829 price, and can make it an enticing option if you don't want to spend upwards of $1,100 on a Pro model. The dual rear camera system also makes it feel like more of a practical option if you take a lot of photos and videos than the iPhone Air, which has only one rear camera. (Unlike the Air, the iPhone 17 also supports Cinematic Videos, which I use pretty heavily.) Many of the newest features, such as Center Stage and Dual Capture, are available across Apple's latest lineup -- you won't have to cough up more cash and upgrade to the iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max to tap into them.

90% Apple iPhone 17 Review: Feature Upgrades Make It the Best iPhone to Buy This Year
Source: PC Mag English EN→zh-CN
The iPhone 17 is the best iPhone for most people, bar none. The gap between the standard iPhone and the Pro models has never been narrower, which means the iPhone 17 has a compelling value over the others. It has the best screen ever to grace the front of a standard iPhone and combines that with long battery life, excellent cameras, competitive wireless performance, punchy audio, and a design fit for everyone. The iPhone Air may have more aesthetic appeal, but it has a limited camera setup, shorter battery life, and slower performance. Although the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max have superior media capture tools, many of the features are sufficiently advanced that regular folks may not need them. If you're in the market for a new phone, the Apple iPhone 17 easily wins our Editors' Choice thanks to its excellent value and performance.

iPhone 17 Canadian review: More value than ever before
Source: Mobile Syrup English EN→zh-CN
If you’ve got a vowel in your name, you’ll probably be pretty happy with an iPhone 17 ($1,129). It’s a small-ish phone that can be used comfortably in one hand, takes great pictures and even has the same screen as the Pro models. If you really don’t care about specs at all, you can also get the iPhone 16e from last year, which will offer similar performance in the long run but has fewer features for a reduced price. Photographers will likely gravitate to the iPhone 17 Pro for its larger sensors and telephoto lens, but if you already have another camera that you like to use, the regular 17 can be a great secondary shooter, and with a little elbow grease, you can get amazing shots out of it. Canadians who used to own the Plus-sized iPhone model, like the 14 or 15 Plus and are looking for something with a bigger screen will need to step up to the ultra-thin Air and lose access to the ultra-wide lens, or step over to the iPhone 17 Pro Max that costs $1,749 (roughly $600 more than the standard 17).

iPhone 17 vs iPhone 17 Pro: The base iPhone suddenly makes a lot more sense
Source: Phone Arena English EN→zh-CN
The iPhone 17 finally feels like the iPhone most people wanted years ago. With a 120Hz display, brighter screen, 48 MP ultrawide, and 18 MP Center Stage selfie camera, it no longer lags far behind the Pro. Add in the longer battery life and faster charging, and the $799 model sounds like a much better deal, especially considering the unchanged price tag with double the storage of its predecessor. The iPhone 17 Pro is still the choice for power users. Its telephoto zoom camera, larger main sensor, A19 Pro chip with vapor chamber cooling, and USB 3 port make it the obvious pick for creators. The advanced video suite (ProRes RAW, Apple Log, Genlock) further solidifies it as the iPhone for professionals. For most people, though, the regular iPhone 17 seems to cover the essentials so well that the Pro is harder to justify. Unless you need pro-grade video tools, extended zoom, or 1TB of storage, it sounds like the base iPhone 17 will finally do the job.

80% Two weeks with the iPhone Air: It’s not what you think
Source: Hardware Zone English EN→zh-CN
If you’ve read everything I’ve written up until this point, you’ll realise that the iPhone Air doesn’t actually sacrifice much in its pursuit of thinness. Durability is pretty much a non-issue, and performance is stellar. Battery life is decent, though much will depend on your usage behaviour. Casual users could find it completely acceptable, but heavy users will no doubt need a mid-day charge to get it to last the entire day. Personally, the single camera system is what will keep me from getting the iPhone Air for myself, not because it’s bad – it’s very good – but because I know there will be times when I’ll miss having a second camera. If you are alright with missing out on capturing the odd shot, you’ll be fine with the iPhone Air.But for a phone that starts at S$1,599, is this acceptable?

74% iPhone Air review: Pointless until you actually hold it in your hand
Source: Phone Arena English EN→zh-CN
The iPhone Air is no doubt a statement device. Apple took the thin phone idea and pushed it to extremes the S25 Edge wasn't able to. Whether or not you should buy the iPhone Air depends on a couple of things. First, if thin phones are your cup of tea, then this is a no-brainer. There's no other product on the market that can rival the iPhone Air at the moment, as the S25 Edge, as thin as it is, feels much more like an ordinary phone in the hand, especially next to the Air. Second, you should be prepared to sacrifice two cameras and a loudspeaker in favor of rocking the skinniest phone on the market. If you're okay with those drawbacks, the iPhone Air could be your perfect phone, one that will turn heads for sure.

Iphone Air Trades More Than Battery For A Slim Body. Are The Sacrifices Worth It?
Source: Slashgear English EN→zh-CN
Here the thing: If you're going to buy an iPhone Air, you're going to have to deal with battery issues. While the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is capable of getting through a full day, the iPhone Air cannot — or hasn't been able to do so in our testing, so far. It bears repeating that I have not tested this phone under normal circumstances, but such was the case with my Galaxy S25 Edge Review, too. I will continue working with the iPhone Air and we will update this review if and when we find out. But you're not buying this phone for that. You're buying this phone for how it looks, and it looks fantastic.

Review: Apple’s iPhone Air is a bunch of small changes that add up to something big
Source: Ars Technica English EN→zh-CN
Most in the Ars Orbiting HQ are in the "I don't see the appeal of this" camp regarding the iPhone Air, and that's a perspective I completely understand. A decade or so ago, during the heyday of the iPhone 6, 6S, and 7, most of us were of the opinion that we would gladly carry around a marginally heavier phone if Apple could just fit a bigger battery in it. But three days of continuous use have helped sell me on the value of the iPhone Air. The iPhone and iPhone Pro have a minor but noticeable heft to them, where the Air is just thin and light enough to feel heftless. It's easy to carry and pocket while still being sturdy enough to handle day-to-day use and abuse. And its battery life, while diminished compared to this year's other iPhones, does not regress all the way back to where it was in the pre-iPhone-X era.

80% Apple iPhone Air review: the super skinny iPhone will surprise you
Source: T3 English EN→zh-CN
The Apple iPhone Air is a brilliant phone and it will be perfect for some users who have been dreaming for the return of slim and lightweight phones since devices like the iPhone 6. It only has a single camera, so you miss out on ultra-wide or proper zoom capabilities and putting a case on it, despite you feeling like you'll want to protect it, will ruin exactly what it's about. But the design is an absolute delight to use; the battery life is more than respectable; the display is lovely, and the single camera is very capable. For the right person, the iPhone Air is everything it should be.

Today, the same questions dot the discourse around the new iPhone Air. “The base model’s a better deal; the pro models have bigger batteries and sharper cameras.” All true. What’s the deal with iPhone Air battery life? Can a smartphone this thin actually last all day? Or at least, most of the day? Mark is here to report the results of the new iPhone Air battery test based on the standard battery test we run on every phone that comes to our lab. These numbers should give you a good idea of what to expect without using the new iPhone battery pack, as well as how the iPhone Air vs. Galaxy S25 Edge stack up in terms of stamina.

80% Apple iPhone Air Review: Fantastic Form, If You Can Live Without All the Features
Source: PC Mag English EN→zh-CN
Apple's engineers deserve accolades for cramming so much phone into such a thin design. The iPhone Air is a wonder, but I don't think it's for everyone. You can't ask for a thinner, more impressive piece of hardware, especially one with such a fantastic screen, solid performance, and powerful software. Though I miss the expanded optical zoom range of the iPhone Pro's cameras, the Air still takes excellent photos and videos as long as you don't mind a limited field of view. If you normally prefer to take selfies, the Air should be more than enough phone for you. For $200 less, however, the standard iPhone 17 is a relative bargain thanks to its much longer battery life, more flexible camera arrangement, and faster mmWave 5G support, making it the best iPhone for most people and our Editors' Choice winner.

iPhone Air Canadian review: Holding is believing
Source: Mobile Syrup English EN→zh-CN
Midway through writing this review, I moved over to do some testing with the 17 Pro Max, and when I came back and picked up the Air, I had chills. The phone weighs so much less; holding something with a screen-to-weight ratio like this feels incredible. I think 6.5 inches is the sweet spot for large-screen devices as well. The Pro Max feels like a behemoth, and even last year’s 16 Plus was pretty hefty in retrospect. Slimming down the Air and shrinking the screen makes it feel like it was designed with hands in mind, not just with the sole purpose of putting a giant screen in your pocket. There’s something about that that’s reminiscent of Apple from the past, and more than anything, this feels like a true successor to the iPhone X from 2017.

I’m still in the midst of evaluating the iPhone Air and iPhone 17, but I’d say that the iPhone Air is a very different type of phone. Because of its super-svelte body, it demands some sacrifice from its users. 90% The iPhone 17 Pro is Apple's most daring redesign in years, and I think it pays off
Source: Pocket Lint English EN→zh-CN
If you take away the visual redesign, this is a very minor, camera-focused hardware upgrade year for Apple's iPhone, just like it was with the iPhone 16 Pro -- but I'm a sucker for a cool-looking tech product, especially one that takes as many aesthetic chances as the iPhone 17 Pro. With that in mind, Apple's latest flagship is a worthwhile upgrade for me, even from the iPhone 16 Pro. On the other hand, if you don't care about design, and you're using an iPhone 15 or iPhone 16, there isn't much to get excited about with the iPhone 17 Pro. However, those still rocking an iPhone 13 or iPhone 12 will find Apple's latest high-end iPhone to be a solid all-around package and a worthwhile upgrade.

79% iPhone 17 Pro Review: Practicality over gimmicks
Source: Phone Arena English EN→zh-CN
The iPhone 17 Pro is a bigger upgrade than it might seem at first, but it's still fundamentally an iPhone, like all others before it. Enthusiasts who care about benchmarks, performance numbers and fancy cooling should definitely buy the iPhone 17 Pro. Its new processor is a big leap forward, much bigger than your typical yearly upgrade, and the device feels more future proof with 12GB of RAM. And same goes for the camera changes which will be appreciated by the enthusiast. The more practical 100mm 4X lens for zoom and portraits is nice, finally bringing the iPhone on par with Android rivals, and the new square Center Stage front camera is industry leading and clever. Those who are not watching Apple events for recreation and are still happy rocking an iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro, however, should not be in much of a rush.

The iPhone 17 Pro is a tiny titan. Small and mighty, it packs everything from the enormous and powerful iPhone 17 Pro Max into an iPhone 17-sized handset. If you want the best camera and the most feature-rich video tools in a pocket-friendly size, the iPhone 17 Pro is easy to recommend. However, if a merely "great" pair of cameras will do, and you find yourself a bit more budget-conscious, the iPhone 17 is our Editors' Choice thanks to its solid everyday performance and fantastic value.

In this video, he breaks down the pros and cons of these phones, comparing the iPhone 17 Pro Max vs. Galaxy S25 Ultra in terms of performance, camera quality, battery life and more. Expect a closer look at the aluminium design, upgraded zoom, Center Stage selfie lens, brighter display, vapor chamber cooling and faster charging, too. Mark also talks about what Apple didn’t nail this year, like the extra weight and lack of “wow” AI features. So if you’re wondering whether to upgrade or just hold onto your current phone, this video should have your answer.

If you spend a lot of time gaming on the go and want the best performance and heat management on an iPhone, the new vapour chamber, unibody design and A19 Pro chip are impossible to beat. Source: Mobile Syrup English EN→zh-CN
At the end of the day, the iPhone 17 Pro series is still the best iPhone on the market, and this new camera system is bound to be a draw for many mobile photographers and content creators. Hell, even if you just like orange, this is probably the phone for you. That said, if you don’t think you care about the extra camera lenses, the new iPhone Air is also a great option. You can check out my prior coverage of it to learn more. The iPhone 17 Pro series will begin pre-orders on September 9 and be fully available on September 19. The phone now starts at $1,599 and comes with 256GB of storage. Last year, the 16 Pro started at $1,449 and had 128GB of storage.

iPhone 17 vs iPhone 17 Pro: The base iPhone suddenly makes a lot more sense

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is the phone to get if you love iOS and you want a big screen and the longest battery life possible. The iPhone 17 Pro is also great, though, if you prefer a design that’s more compact. I would personally not upgrade if you have an iPhone 15 Pro Max or iPhone 16 Pro Max. The enhancements aren’t compelling enough. But if you’re coming from an older iPhone 14 Pro Max, I could definitely recommend stepping up to the new iPhone. You’ll enjoy a larger and brighter 6.9-inch display on Apple’s newer phone, considerably faster performance, a tougher design, longer battery life, a better and smarter Center Stage front camera and other perks like Audio Mix for your videos. And even though there’s no true killer Apple Intelligence feature yet, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is in line to get the new and improved Siri when it’s finally ready.

It'S Expensive, But Apple'S Iphone 17 Pro Max Steals The Show
Source: Slashgear English EN→zh-CN
A good chunk of iPhone 17 Pro owners won't necessarily stretch the limits of its processing power, or its video capture tech. I suspect the same could be said for last year's phone, and Apple's flagship from the year before that. Nonetheless, improvements in the iPhone 17, along with the arrival of the iPhone Air, make it easier to list the reasons you might want to go Pro this time. It has the best battery life, the most powerful chipset, and, in the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the biggest screen. It has more cameras and an ever-useful longer telephoto lens; LIDAR where the others go without; and a much faster USB-C port (USB 3 for up to 10 Gb/s, versus the others' 480 MB/s USB 2) with support for video capture to an external SSD. I'd say the iPhone 17 Pro Max gets the biggest bang for your buck on display and battery life.

80% iPhone 17 Pro Max review: hello aluminum, my old friend
Source: Phone Arena English EN→zh-CN
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is a big upgrade for enthusiasts. The performance jump is actually tangible and will improve your experience if you want that iPhone to be your mobile gaming console. The new ProRes RAW for video will unlock new possibilities for current or aspiring videographers or influencers that are looking to up their game. The new selfie camera is plain cool. But let's be real. Another year — another iPhone. Predictable, solid, well-performing and well-enduring. Those things were true for the iPhone 16 Pro Max and 15 Pro Max before it. And they still ring true — they are not suddenly bad phones because there's a new shiny toy out. In other words, if you are happy with your current iPhone Pro Max and don't feel like something's bogging you down in performance or battery — maybe you can skip the upgrade for another year.

This is the iPhone for people who would take advantage of a bigger screen, extra battery life, and a telephoto lens. If you go to concerts and don’t get tickets down the front, this is for you. However, if you are still happy with your iPhone 14 Pro Max or newer, this isn’t an essential year to upgrade. There are a lot of benefits to upgrading this year, but if you’re still being served by your current phone, it won’t be life-changing. Even the 13 Pro Max is a borderline case, though more on the side of upgrading for those who would like to. Anything older than an iPhone 11 isn’t eligible for the upgrade to iOS 26, so an upgrade for you is more essential. The iPhone 12 generation would benefit enormously, though there’s still another year of iOS updates to be enjoyed.

Apple's iPhone 17 Pro Max is a humongous phone that does a lot and costs a lot. There are plenty of reasons to buy it, and some to skip it. The 17 Pro Max is the best iPhone for creators who need a do-it-all phone. 6.90:
