Reviews for the Nothing Phone (4a)

80% Nothing Phone (4a) review: Stop asking "But why not the Pro?"
Source: The Times of India English EN→zh-CN
Yes, there are quite a few other phones in the market over-specing the (4a). But the elephant in the room is the (4a)’s own Pro sibling — the Phone (4a) Pro—which brings a better main camera, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 (it’s tad more powerful), and the circular Glyph Matrix from the flagship Phone (3). Same battery, though. The proposition sounds genuinely tempting. Also genuinely more expensive at Rs 39,999—that’s Rs 9,000 more than where the Phone (4a) starts. And that’s really the whole conversation, isn’t it. Most people buying a phone at this price aren’t stretching. And the Phone (4a) doesn’t ask them to. It gives you a complete, considered, well-built phone for people who want something that feels intentional. It succeeds at that more convincingly than anything else in this price band. Nothing has been making that argument for four generations. The Phone (4a) is the argument fully made.

Nothing Phone 4a review
Source: International Business Times English EN→zh-CN
Nothing Phone 4a is not trying to be the fastest, or the most powerful. Instead, it focuses on delivering a clean, reliable, and enjoyable experience and for the most part, it succeeds. The design stands out, the display is excellent, the software is among the cleanest around, and the overall performance is consistent. The camera is good, with some standout features like the telephoto lens, but not perfect. And while it handles everyday tasks effortlessly, it doesn't push the boundaries of performance. If you're looking for a phone that feels different, works reliably, and doesn't overwhelm you with unnecessary features, the Nothing Phone 4a makes a strong case. It may not be the absolute best in every category, but as an all-rounder, it's one of the more interesting choices in the mid-range right now.

84% Nothing Phone (4a) review
Source: GSM Arena English EN→zh-CN
The Nothing Phone (4a) is one of those devices that doesn't try to win the spec sheet race, yet still manages to carve out a very compelling position for itself in the midrange segment. It leans heavily into what Nothing does best - distinctive design, clean software, and a cohesive user experience - and backs that up with solid, well-rounded hardware. Starting with the obvious, the design remains a key selling point. The refined Glyph Bar and the recognizable semi-transparent aesthetic continue to stand out in a sea of generic slabs. But importantly, the Phone (4a) isn't just about looks - build quality is solid, the display is sharp and bright enough, and the overall ergonomics are well thought out.Performance is perfectly adequate for the class. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 isn't a powerhouse, but paired with faster UFS 3.1 storage and Nothing's well-optimized software, the phone feels responsive and smooth in day-to-day use. Thermal behavior is excellent too, with virtually no throttling under load. The camera setup is another highlight - not because it's flawless, but because it's interesting.

Source: Gadgetbyte Nepal English EN→zh-CN
So yeah, I think this is truly the best phone under 60,000 in Nepal right now. You get a very unique kind of design, and the display has improved a lot this time. The haptics and speakers have also been improved this time. The software experience is next level! The camera performance is just so good. And I really liked Nothing's decision to include a 3.5x telephoto lens, which is unheard of in this price segment. The performance is also quite good for day-to-day workloads. Gaming performance might not be that strong, but overall performance is very good.

Nothing Phone 4a and 4a Pro hands-on: Impressive value
Source: Canbuyornot English EN→zh-CN
Featuring Nothing's unique design with a premium build, the Nothing Phone 4a and Nothing Phone 4a Pro look and feel great. Both phones make a great impression, especially the 4a Pro, which seems to sport a new design language. Instead of a transparent rear, the 4a Pro features an aluminium rear, with only the camera island transparent. Located next to the camera of the 4a Pro, you'll find a familiar looking Glyph Matrix. It's similar to the one on the Nothing Phone 3 with less resolution, but much bigger and brighter. You get the same features, such as Glyph Toys, notifications and even use it as a torchlight. I like this design, as it not only gives the phone the Nothing touch, but also lets it rest balanced when on the table. I'm so done with lopsided camera designs, and I'm glad that the trend is moving towards more balanced phones.

Nothing Phone (4a) & (4a) Pro Review: Is 'Different' Actually Better?
Source: GadgetMatch English
Is 'different' actually better? I headed to London for the global launch of the Nothing Phone (4a) and (4a) Pro to see if Nothing’s new luxe-tech era—led by ex-Loewe CBO Charlie Smith—is a genuine game-changer or just high-fashion hype. Starting at $499, the Phone (4a) Pro is taking a massive swing at the iPhone 17e and Pixel 10a. With a new aluminum unibody, a 50MP periscope zoom, and the most advanced Glyph Matrix yet, Nothing is making a case that "mid-range" doesn't have to mean "boring." After testing these on the streets of London and New York, can a brand that prides itself on being "different" actually survive?

66% Nothing Phone (4a) Pro review: finally, aluminum unibody again!
Source: Phone Arena English EN→zh-CN
The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro certainly is a "statement" device. It says that you are into the tech, that you don't want to conform by holding yet another Galaxy or another iPhone. It is pleasant to hold and operate, its display is pretty, and its performance is on par with the $500 competition. Its UI is minimalist, and it may not have countless extra features, but what I enjoy about them is that they are usually well fleshed-out with a nice flair of "out-of-the-box thinking". Where it lacks is in the camera department. If you can live with that, it's a great phone. If you'd rather have some extra oomph from the lenses — either wait and see if they improve it a bit with software updates, or look at another model right now.

Nothing Phone (4a) vs (4a) Pro: I used both, here’s which one to buy
Source: 91mobiles English EN→zh-CN
The Nothing Phone (4a) retails in India starting at Rs 31,999, and for that asking price, it delivers a more expressive design, an equally capable display and battery life to its elder sibling, and a reliable day-to-day experience with close-to-natural colour tuning from its cameras. The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro, which costs Rs 39,999, feels like a more complete package. The phone boasts a slightly superior build, performs more consistently under load, and pulls ahead in areas that matter over time – thermal efficiency, a more impressive camera system, and overall refinement. Even though the Phone (4a) Pro is less flashy, it is easier to live with. However, if you value personality and want to save some money, the Phone (4a) won’t disappoint.

83% Nothing Phone (4a) Pro Review: Stepping Out of the Mid-Range Comfort Zone
Source: Exhibit.tech English EN→zh-CN
The Nothing Phone 4a Pro represents a significant maturation of the brand’s approach. It no longer relies solely on visual identity or software minimalism to stand out. Instead, it delivers a more balanced, considered experience that aligns more closely with its pricing. It is not without its compromises. Performance does not lead the segment, video capabilities lag behind some rivals, and certain hardware elements feel less ambitious than expected. However, it compensates with a strong design language, a notably improved camera system, and a software experience that remains among the cleanest in Android.

My Smartphone of the Year: Why I’m So Impressed by This £349 Smartphone
Source: Nextpit EN English EN→zh-CN
The Nothing Phone 4a already stands out visually from the crowd of mid-range smartphones. However, it not only impressed with its stylish exterior in this review, but also with the rest of its features. The powerful Snapdragon chip ensures sufficient performance in everyday use, the battery lasts a long time, and the camera takes excellent photos for the price range. With the 3.5x optical zoom, it also has another highlight to offer, which is not the norm in this price range. At £349 a pop, the price is fair, and the £40 surcharge for doubling the memory is also absolutely fair. If you are looking for an inexpensive smartphone, the Nothing Phone 4a offers a convincing overall package.

80% Nothing Phone (4a) Review: Edgy-Looking, Zoom Boss of the Mid-Segment
Source: Tech PP English EN→zh-CN
The Nothing Phone (4a) is more expensive than its predecessor, but it definitely is a step ahead in terms of performance and specs. In some ways, it takes the place of the Pro version of its predecessor. While reviewing the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, we had said that while the phone was a good performer, it could not be matched in terms of camera performance and design. And what made its cameras different from the others was the presence of a powerful zoom. The same applies to the Nothing Phone (4a) too. Finding phones with more powerful chips and bigger displays, and batteries at their price is not going to be difficult (hey, just look up our challengers), but those very good cameras and very edgy design change the equation.

iPhone 17e DESTROYED by Budget Android | Apple vs Nothing Phone 4a
Source: Tech Spurt English
Reviewing the Apple iPhone 17e vs Nothing Phone 4a, a budget Android smartphone costing over £200 less, which still boasts better camera tech and a superior display. The iPhone 17e is poor value for money compared with cheaper rivals like the Nothing Phone 4a, as this smartphone comparison shows. That's not to say this Apple blower is second best at everything. The compact design is pleasingly hand-friendly, while the performance is better for gaming on the go. Sadly the 60Hz screen cripples the iPhone 17e, making it feel sludgy and proving less than ideal for gamers and movie fans.

Source: Expert Reviews English EN→zh-CN
I have something of a soft spot for Nothing Phones. It’s more than just home-team pride for the London-based brand – I appreciate brands that make concerted efforts to deliver phones that are different from the crowd, rather than trying their best to emulate the iPhone in order to lure customers away from Apple. For better or worse, the Nothing (4a) is defiantly itself. This works very well in some ways, with a gorgeously eye-catching design (especially in that new pink colourway), clean and thoughtful AI in the Essential Space and unique features like the excellent telephoto camera and quirky Glyph Bar.

When I look at a Nothing product, it reminds me of a Casio G-Shock, and you might wonder why. In my 13-plus years of reviewing tech products, I have developed not only a sense of aesthetics but also an understanding of how products evolve. The new Nothing Phone 4a, first teased at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this week and officially unveiled in London, seems to imbibe some traits of a Casio G-Shock, an impressive specimen that isn’t exactly revolutionary but is all in good fun and still manages to surprise you.

80% Nothing Phone (4a) Review: Transparent temptation
Source: Tech Advisor English EN→zh-CN
The Nothing Phone (4a) is another offering from the company that’s greater than the sum of its parts. Nothing doesn’t always opt for the most powerful hardware available in a given product class, and part of the price comes as a result of their unique emphasis on hardware and software design, but perhaps more than any other phone maker out there, with Nothing, such an approach feels justified. While I like the look of the Phone (4a), I’m not convinced its design effectively represents the start of a new era for the company. Instead, it’s refinement rather than a reinvention of its predecessor’s aesthetics. From a technical standpoint, the Phone (4a)’s durability credentials continue to fall behind that from similarly-priced competitors, and the Glyph Bar, while different, doesn’t add anything new to the experience. Additions to the phone’s software feel considered and meaningful, with the only shortcoming being the promise of features that aren’t ready in time for launch.

Source: Digital Camera World English EN→zh-CN
The Nothing Phone (4a) continues the company’s tradition of making smartphones that feel a little more interesting than the competition. Its transparent design and Glyph lighting system still stand out in a market full of near-identical devices. For photographers, the camera system isn’t a mid-range champ, but it puts in a decent performance. The cameras produce pleasingly natural images, however the ability to apply LUTs directly in-camera is genuinely a gamechanger for me, and adds a whole new dimension to the average camera hardware. However, inconsistent HDR previews, muted default colours and limited usability of the higher zoom ranges mean it doesn’t quite deliver a fully rounded camera experience.Performance is solid for the price, with smooth everyday use and dependable battery life that easily lasts a full day.

The Nothing Phone 4a does not try to dramatically change what the “a” series is about. Instead, it focuses on making the experience feel more complete. Nothing Phone 4a Pro hands-on review: This could beat iPhone 17e at its own game
Source: Tom's Guide English EN→zh-CN
If you were impressed with what we've seen for the Nothing Phone 4a, then the Nothing 4a Pro should blow your mind. Or at least get close. Considering how much you're expected to pay, there's a ridiculous amount on offer here. $499 for a triple-lens camera phone that doesn't have a useless third camera is incredible enough. I wouldn't want to see it go head-to-head against the likes of the iPhone 17 Pro Max or Pixel 10 Pro XL, but compared to the iPhone 17e and Pixel 10a? This could easily be a strong contender for best cheap phone. There are still plenty of things we don't know about, and that's going to require plenty of hands-on testing. But in the meantime, I'm fairly optimistic about the Nothing Phone 4a Pro's chances of taking on the major players once again.

Nothing could’ve just given the outgoing Phone 3a a few generational hardware upgrades and called it a day, but has instead taken the opportunity to reimagine one of its signature features. The Glyph bar instantly sets Phone 4a apart from its predecessor, while keeping the quirky personality fans of the firm have come to love. Elsewhere this is a more refined take on the firm’s affordable phone, with cameras that can (sometimes) compete with pricer mid-range handsets, an improved display, and a chipset that keeps pace with the budget competition.

After extensive testing, the Nothing Phone (4a) stands out in the budget mid-range market at INR 30,000. With its unique design, practical Glyph features, and solid performance, it offers a premium feel. The camera performs well for daily use, especially with telephoto capabilities and impressive battery life. The Nothing Phone 4a, at a starting price of Rs. 31,999, is a good price considering the era we live in, where memory supply constraints have pushed prices upwards, and the ultimate burden has fallen on consumers. However, I would have loved to see the base variant featuring 12 gigs of RAM. I have had a great week with the Phone 4a, and I am impressed by the battery performance and bright display, which have made it my go-to device for all my multimedia needs. Stay tuned to Gadgets 360, as we will soon be publishing a detailed review of the Nothing Phone 4a.

80% Nothing Phone 4a review: Raises the bar with unique design and snappy performance
Source: India Today English EN→zh-CN
So where does the Nothing Phone 4a stand? Yes, the price has increased to Rs 31,999, but that is an industry wide trend. Thanks to the rising memory prices, delivering the same value as last year is quite tough now. The Phone 4a is a decent package. The performance may not be the best, but the device holds up well with most tasks, the display is punchy too, even if the bezels are not the slimmest. The camera setup is quite versatile, and we don’t really see a periscope telephoto on other phones in this price range. And of course, the design and Glyph Bar is what makes the device stand out. However, the battery is smaller than rival phones, while battery life is not bad, it is not close to the best out there. And on the durability front, we would’ve appreciated a higher IP rating. Overall, though, the Nothing Phone 4a delivers on what it promises. For anyone who wants to stand out without making any real compromises, the device does the job quite well.

60% Nothing Phone (4a) Review: This Is Getting Tough
Source: Mark Ellis Reviews English EN→zh-CN
At £349, the Nothing Phone (4a) remains a bargain. Like many battery-powered devices, it has endured a price bump this year thanks, I’m sure, in no small part to the ongoing RAM crisis. The question of who should buy it, however, is a tricky one to answer. Nothing’s phone lineup is undeniably convoluted, with the (2a) (presumably to be replaced by the (3a)), (3a) Lite, (4a) Pro, and (3) all vying for your attention with not exactly colossal pricing differences separating them. And that’s before we take into consideration the ultra-low-priced CMF Phone 2 Pro. Put simply, I don’t really know where to start when it comes to recommending the best Nothing Phone for the budget-conscious. Because they’re all rather tempting.

Nothing shows off a new Phone (4a) colour – but still no Pro
Source: Expert Reviews English EN→zh-CN
I understand why Nothing held back the Phone (4a) Pro – likely saving it for a grand unveiling at the launch event this Friday – but it does have me wondering if the Pro model is improved over last year’s effort. The Phone (3a) Pro had a lot going for it, including an excellent telephoto camera, but there weren’t enough additional features to justify it costing so much more than the standard (3a) and the chunky camera module did it no favours either.
