While Xiaomi 15 is a minor iteration over Xiaomi 14 (with upgrades in only the processor and battery life), its competitive pricing of S$1,099 for its 256 GB version (and $1,199 for 512 GB), helps hold the phone up well against a sea of premium and compact flagship alternatives. Even if the camera array is almost no different from its predecessor, its quality still outperforms many similarly priced rivals in 2025. Moreover, the phone comes with a top-of-the-line processor that's indistinguishable from its Ultra variant, while the others either make do or fall a bit short in other ways (like photography, battery, or design). If we want to compare, the S$1,288 Samsung Galaxy S25 comes close, but it's nearly S$200 more.

One big consideration to make with the Xiaomi 15 is that it’s not officially available everywhere globally, as folks in North America will have to import one from overseas should they want to own one. It’s also a bit expensive, starting at around $1,200 (when converted) for the base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage. That said though, the Xiaomi 15 is an ideal choice for Android fans who want a powerful-enough and relatively-small smartphone that comes with a large and vibrant display, all-day battery life, capable performance as well as good cameras. However its price, heavily-skinned software, as well as lack of availability in some regions are key points to keep in mind as well.

It might have been totally overshadowed by the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and the little attention it did get mostly revolved around its Leica cameras and compact design, but the fact is that the Xiaomi 15 still stands out as a terrific value-for-money flagship. At its price, it is one of the sleekest phones around and comes with very good cameras and hardware that is capable of handling everything you throw at it, and now has very good battery life too. It is pretty much a no-brainer if you want a compact flagship under Rs 75,000/$1000. In fact, you can remove the “compact” from the previous sentence, and it would still largely make sense. At its price of Rs 64,999, the Xiaomi 15 is a great device not just for compact flagship fans but for anyone looking for a modern flagship phone on a tight budget.

At Rs 64,999, the Xiaomi 15 stands out as one of the few compact flagships available in today's market. It gets the basics right with a comfortable 6.36-inch size, a bright OLED display that's great for videos, and smooth everyday performance. While it gets warm during long gaming sessions, it's not a deal breaker. The main camera takes great photos in daylight, portrait mode works surprisingly well, and you get fast 90W charging with the adapter included. If you want a powerful Android phone that doesn't strain your hand, the Xiaomi 15 is an easy recommendation. It's not perfect — low-light photos could be better and the ultra-wide camera is fine — but these are manageable compromises at this price. All in all, you are getting a great deal in its price range if you are looking for a compact flagship.

Xiaomi 15 is a relatively compact mass flagship that has all the features that a modern user may need. In addition, it offers not only high performance or high-quality camera shots, but also a very good level of autonomy, which is not often found in compact models. In general, the main disadvantage of the smartphone remains the presence of advertising in some built-in applications and the inability to remove unnecessary pre-installed programs.

The Xiaomi 15 offers a good display performance, providing adapted luminance for most lighting conditions. Outdoors, it underperforms compared to competitors in bright light conditions (20,000 lux), while ensuring a luminance boost in sunlight (50,000 lux). That said, when the high brightness mode is on, our testers observed a degradation of the image quality. Temporal light modulation is a strong point on the Xiaomi 15, with an almost DC-like behavior, unlike the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Its color rendering is generally accurate in all conditions, making it pleasing for viewing photos, although there are noticeable color shifts at an angle. In video playback, while it delivers a seamless experience with no frame mismatches, in lowlight conditions, brightness remains insufficient for optimal viewing. Despite these limitations, SDR and HDR video brightness remain strong indoors, making it a solid performer for everyday use.

The Xiaomi 15 is a terrific compact flagship that’s well worth its asking price. Not only is it more affordable than the Xiaomi 14, but the brand has packed in several meaningful upgrades, such as a faster Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a bigger battery. What makes this package even more appealing is that the phone retains the same compact form factor. To round things off, you get a reliable and versatile set of Leica cameras – though there are some niggles that could be addressed via future software updates – along with some neat AI features under HyperAI. Given that there aren’t too many compact flagships in the market right now, the Xiaomi 15 does enjoy a certain sense of uniqueness. That said, if you’re looking for an equally reliable compact flagship with superior performance and cameras, the Samsung Galaxy S25 (review) is worth considering, although it is priced higher than the Xiaomi 15.

The Xiaomi 15 is a great phone that’s overshadowed by the far superior Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which offers significantly better looks and performance even if it does cost considerably more. Despite this, there’s certainly nothing wrong with the non-Ultra model, with the Xiaomi 15 offering great battery life, benchmark results and solid camera performance. The AI features are certainly interesting, though Xiaomi could do with making them a little easier to find — especially for AI that isn’t related to photo editing. Other phones don't make their AI tools easy to find, but it's still something Xiaomi will need to address if it wants users to adopt HyperAI.

In the DXOMARK Camera tests, the Xiaomi 15 delivered a well-rounded camera performance, making it a solid choice for both photography and videography enthusiasts. The Xiaomi 15 comes with a triple-camera system, covering focal lengths from ultra-wide to medium range tele, but has to make do without the 15 Pro model’s dedicated long tele camera module. In our photo tests, the Xiaomi 15’s camera setup achieved excellent results, delivering a wide dynamic range, low noise levels, and vibrant colors. However, some areas for improvement remained. Our testers observed noticeable color casts in low light conditions, and the limited depth of field made it difficult to maintain all subjects in group shots sharply focused.

The Xiaomi 15 is one of the best compact flagship smartphones of 2024. It delivers top-tier performance, fantastic cameras, and ultra-fast charging, all in a one-hand-friendly form factor. Xiaomi has finally refined the experience with HyperOS, making the software much smoother and less bloated. That said, software update commitments remain a concern, and the phone still gets warm under load. Also, the lack of a charger in the box is a letdown, given that Xiaomi’s 90W HyperCharge is one of its standout features. But for those who want a premium compact Android flagship, the Xiaomi 15 is an excellent choice—especially for users tired of massive 6.7-inch devices.

The Xiaomi 15 is a great flagship overall, delivering on performance, battery endurance, display quality, and, of course, excellent cameras. From my experience, the main drawback is HyperOS. While it’s cleaner than before, its quirks remain. Nonetheless, I would still recommend considering the Xiaomi 15 if you’re looking for a new flagship this year, especially if you prefer a pocketable device that delivers on all flagship expectations.

The battery capacity on the Xiaomi 15 has been bumped up to 5,240mAh from 4,610mAh for the Xiaomi 14. But it's still the same 90W fast wired charging, and 50W wireless charging like the previous version. For wireless charging, that's a bit slower than the Ultra (80W). Differentiation or cost-cutting? You decide. In any case, battery life was 10hr 32min in PCMark's test, which is a hour longer than the Xiaomi 14. I typically end up with around 40 to 50% battery life at the end of the day, though I still charge it overnight. Prices for the Xiaomi 15 start from S$1,099 (12GB + 256GB) and S$1,199 (12GB + 512GB). That's S$100 more for the base model compared with the Xiaomi 14 (12GB + 256GB), though it's unchanged at S$1,199 for the 512GB version. It's still very competitive, seeing as Honor's flagship phone, which does have slightly better cameras is S$1,399, and Samsung's Galaxy S25 series starts from S$1,288. A solid phone priced to compete. What more can you ask? Get it now from Shopee and Lazada.

The Xiaomi 15 is a well-rounded flagship that offers strong performance, an excellent display, and solid battery life. Its compact design makes it a great choice for those who prefer smaller phones without sacrificing high-end features. While the camera system delivers good results, it doesn’t quite match the Ultra model or some competing flagships. The software experience is familiar but lacks the long-term update support provided by brands like Google and Samsung. Ultimately, the Xiaomi 15 is a compelling option for users who want a powerful yet compact smartphone.

The Xiaomi 15 is undoubtedly one of the best flagship phones I’ve used all year (not counting the Pros and the Ultras) and with its competitors raising their prices, this is tied for the cheapest vanilla flagship of 2025. I love the simplicity of the flat design, the battery life is excellent, and, best of all, the camera makes it so easy for any amateur to take good photos. There’s also the added value of the smooth UI and the surprisingly useful and effective AI photo editing tools. As of now, this is my pick for best-value flagship of the year, which is a first for Xiaomi.

At first glance, the Xiaomi 15 doesn't look like a massive upgrade from the 14, but delve deeper and you'll find profound improvements from its already sensational predecessor. The camera is as great as ever, with even the base 15 capable of up to 8K video capture, alongside the best portrait/landscape/night/macro photo combo on the market. It's also possibly the most powerful smartphone ever, with a 45-50% jump in CPU performance from the 14 leaving Samsung and other Android rivals scrambling to catch up. Xiaomi is no longer an upstart; it's a true leader.

Of course, the 15 Ultra has a regular suite of Leica styles that enhance the overall experience. This one also gets the 1-inch sensor and f/1.63 aperture. There's a 32-megapixel selfie camera. In my limited time with the device, the 15 Ultra looks like a fantastic successor to the 14 Ultra in terms of camera upgrades. But I will be able to break it down more in my review. It also runs on HyperOS 2, based on Android 15. It has a suite of AI features onboard, which I will test and detail in my review, so stay tuned.

The Xiaomi 15 starts at 999 Euros(~Php 61k) in Europe. Xiaomi will be holding a separate launch in the Philippines on November 6, so stay tuned for the official local pricing and availability of the Xiaomi 15. We do hope that Xiaomi gives it a very competitive price to make this device easy to recommend once our full review comes out.

On one hand the Xiaomi 15 is an iterative device. It looks like the Xiaomi 14 and offers much the same compact flagship phone experience. The day-to-day performance of this phone is great, there’s loads of power (even if it gets a little hot), the battery and charging is excellent and the display is great. There’s a lot of camera to explore in the Xiaomi 15 with three good lenses, but it’s not best in class across all these lenses and I’d take the Pixel 9 Pro for better telephoto performance. But the Xiaomi 15 is also curiously expensive: it’s a little more than an iPhone 16, a little more than a Samsung Galaxy S25 and more expensive than the Pixel 9. That might be a hard sell for some people.

Overall, the Xiaomi 15 is a very impressive phone, building on the success of its predecessor. There may not be a lot of changes, but the improvements do help a lot. I especially like the new bigger battery, which now makes it capable of lasting over a day without recharging. The new chipset helps with performance, whether for productivity or for playing games. While not everyone will use the AI features, it’s a nice thing to have as well. However, if you’re already using a flagship phone from 2024 or a Xiaomi 14, I don’t see the point in upgrading to the Xiaomi 15 just yet. A bigger battery and a newer chipset don’t justify upgrading.

This time last year, I was saying that the Xiaomi 14 was neck and neck with the Samsung Galaxy S24. While the Xiaomi 15 is roughly as good as its predecessor, the relative sparsity of hardware upgrades paired with the price bump means that it’s just not as competitive now. The Xiaomi 15 has its perks – the display is bright, sharp and colour-accurate, performance is up there with the best and the cameras are just as good as last year – but the simple fact is that the Samsung Galaxy S25 is the superior compact flagship. The build is tighter and lighter, software support is more extensive, the OS is more user-friendly and battery life is better, all for a lower starting price.

Back at the start of February, we reported on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, the top-tier version of the new 15 family. Meanwhile, those looking for a slightly more affordable flagship option should read on because the Xiaomi 15 might be what they are after. Information about the Xiaomi 15 initially dropped back before October 2024, whilst domestic reviewers and customers already had videos online handling this new model in October. The global launch event was set for the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today, so hopefully, you caught the livestream earlier and then rushed to Neowin to check out my review. I will be covering my thoughts on the UK release, but as there is no longer any obvious regional difference for the hardware, everything mentioned here would apply to the rest of the global release, too.

Despite not having the flashy specifications or upgrades of its Ultra sibling, it is easier to recommend buying the Xiaomi 15 due to its flagship performance at a lower price. The phone makes sensible compromises to reach the competitive €999 (around $1,040). Against similarly priced phones such as the Galaxy S25 and iPhone 16, the only things that take points away from the Xiaomi 15 are the shorter software support policy and the amount of bloatware and ads. Long-time Xiaomi customers are probably used to them by now, and there are always methods to turn most of them off. For owners of the Xiaomi 14, on the other hand, the differences are mostly related to the processor and longer software support, so for them, we recommend waiting for a more substantial change. The Xiaomi 15 even got a shorter focal length on the telephoto camera (i.e. "less zoom"), without the big sensor upgrade the Ultra model got.

The Xiaomi 15 is an excellent compact flagship. It has a gorgeous OLED screen that's bright, vivid, and can dynamically switch between 1 and 120Hz. The silicon-carbon battery inside comes with an impressive capacity given the compact footprint of the device, and the 90W charging support really helps to fill up that ample battery fast. Add the Snapdragon 8 Elite to the mix, and you end up with a very robust and capable phone. Now for the downsides. The Xiaomi 15 starts at €999, and that's not exactly cheap. We're talking iPhone 16 Pro kind of money. Then there's the design—the phone looks too similar to its predecessor, and more importantly, the hardware inside is almost identical to the last model. We have a new chip, a bigger battery, and a new sensor for the telephoto camera. And that's pretty much it.

There’s a lot of great options available in the “mid-range” sector of the smartphone market, proving you don’t necessarily need to fork out huge sums of cash to get hold of devices which can take great pictures. The Xiaomi 15 here is a great case in point. Yes, it’s not on a par with the much more expensive Xiaomi 15 Ultra, but for most people, it’s likely to be more than good enough, producing excellent results across a range of situations. Personally, I also like the fact that it fits more neatly in my hand and my pocket – so if I had to choose between the two models, all things considered, I might in the end plump for this one and save the cash for something else. At its price point, it competes well with the likes of the Samsungs and iPhones of this world, offering generally better shooting specifications at a similar price.

The Xiaomi 15 is more of an iterative upgrade rather than a colossal jump forward. The notably larger battery is probably the most important change in our minds. The chipset swap to the new Snapdragon 8 Elite is nice and all, but just like last year, the Xiaomi 15 still struggles to keep it cool with prolonged loads. The camera changes are pretty minor. Last year, we did wish for autofocus on the ultrawide, but that didn't come to pass. Even so, this is one of the best and most capable camera setups you can currently get in a relatively compact phone. Honestly, apart from the lackluster cooling performance, there are very few, if any, glaring issues we can point out with the Xiaomi 15.

No matter how you slice it, the Xiaomi 15 is a great smartphone. It is one of the best compact devices that we’ve ever used. Just because it’s more compact than most other high-end offerings out there doesn’t mean it’s not on their level. This smartphone has a great build quality, display, performance, and so on. It also offers good battery life and very, very fast charging, plus more. Even its camera performance is excellent overall, so… there are very few complaints that can be made here. This is definitely a device you should be considering if you’re in the market for a compact, high-end smartphone.

Alright with this, I think I have covered most parts of my experience with the Xiaomi 15 and I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see compact phones being such all round packages. The Xiaomi 15 has everything you would expect from a good phone, a nice display, handy, comfortable design, good battery life, fast charging, reliable performance, everything. My only gripe with this phone is, I was expecting the cameras to be better, they are good, but I think I just had higher expectations. And considering all that the xiaomi 15 offers, it definitely deserves to be called the best compact flagship phone right now. The Xiaomi 15 is a powerhouse in a small package, packing with the Snapdragon 8 Elite and a bigger battery that actually lasts longer.

At the end of the day, should you buy the Xiaomi 15 Ultra? Well, I think the price is a bit difficult to swallow at RM5,199. Yes, we do get the free photography kit – which has improved a lot over the previous generation – but I do believe that the cameras have a lot of issues, most of them are the same as the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. I guess that’s a spoiler alert for the next video about the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, whoops. But yes, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra has great hardware on paper, but in practice – it falls short. The battery life sucks, the cameras need a lot of work to make the pictures look nice – but the gaming performance is somehow really good.

It's too early to say, but what we can say from the specs and the early previews is that the Xiaomi 15 Pro is a serious Android contender, up there with the OnePlus 13, the Honor Magic 7 Pro, and the upcoming Galaxy S25 series, as well. The phone comes with a great package, now featuring a periscope zoom lens, keeping the great screen from its predecessor but utilizing new materials to make it brighter, and last but not least, featuring one of the largest batteries on a flagship. The deciding factor here will be global pricing and availability, so we need to wait a bit more to stamp our final verdict on this one.

In actual performance tests, the Xiaomi 15 Pro demonstrates a remarkable 44.4% increase in single-core performance, a 37.7% increase in multi-core performance, and nearly a 40% boost in GPU performance compared to the previous generation. This marks the largest performance leap in mobile phones over the past decade, truly achieving a generational breakthrough. During the gaming test with “Genshin Impact”—formerly known as a “hardware killer”—the Xiaomi 15 Pro now runs the game almost effortlessly. Under full-frame operation, power consumption remains at just 3.72W, showing an energy efficiency improvement of over 20%. In the new “hardware killer” title, “Honkai Impact 3rd,” the Xiaomi 15 Pro runs at full frame with a power consumption of only 3.69W, maintaining a temperature of under 40 degrees Celsius on the back.

To summarize, the Xiaomi 15 Pro excels in hardware configuration, imaging system, battery life charging and other aspects. If you pursue top performance and photo experience, then this phone is definitely worth considering. However, the price starting at 749.8USD is really not low, so if you have a limited budget, you can consider other models with better cost performance.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra may be a pricey proposition at S$1,699 for the base 512GB model, but its powerful hardware, impressive display, and most importantly, exceptional camera performance promise a great return on investment. While the well-rounded showing certainly boosts its appeal, the biggest purchasing factor should be its mastery over mobile photography that few can match. Ironically enough, this also means the device may not be ideal for casual users or enthusiasts, as they are likely to find better value elsewhere. Instead, serious shutterbugs are the best fit here. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is one beast of a powerhouse that will serve users well, especially those who can fully harness its mobile photography prowess.

Understandably, people can be a bit reluctant to move away from more familiar brands, such as Samsung, Apple or even Google, but in terms of the photography, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is pretty much the best you can get – particularly because of its one-inch type sensor, something we just don’t generally see on smartphones. As well as the excellent main sensor, the four Leica lenses do a great job across a range of different scenarios making it well-suited to general photography, macro, portraits, low light, video and probably more besides. That said, the 15 Ultra isn’t a huge revolution from the 14 Ultra. If you’ve already got last year’s model, there’s probably not quite enough here to tempt you to upgrade – and it’s a slight disappointment that you can no longer adjust the aperture of the lens sitting in front of that large, one-inch sensor.

At Rs 1,09,999, I would suggest the Xiaomi 15 Ultra to those who take their photography really seriously and have to shoot both stills and video. This smartphone camera lets you create a distinct identity for your images with the kids of customisation on offer. For these users the Legend Photography Kit at Rs 11,999, is certainly an added value. That this device also works as a smartphone is a fringe benefit.

There's no question that it's a phone that ticks pretty much every box you'd expect from one of today's flagships. It's powerful, has a great-looking display, decent software support period and features like fast charging and water resistance. But its sky-high price tag is impossible to ignore and difficult to justify for anyone who isn't a die-hard photographer. Like its predecessor, the camera is the sole reason to consider this phone over its rivals. Those of you wanting more casual photographs of your friends and family on days out will likely be better served with alternative Android phones -- or the iPhone -- most of which can take better-looking snaps in auto modes and at lower prices.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is a sensible camera phone that is done very, very well and will be a solid contender in next year's best smartphone camera category at our NDTV Gadgets 360 Awards. It is packed to the brim with features like Snapdragon 8 Elite that handles all performance needs efficiently, a fantastic camera setup tuned with legendary camera maker Leica, a large 5410mAh battery, 90W HyperCharge support, and much more. The idea of selling the Photography Kit Legend Edition separately is well-timed and should appeal to true Xiaomi fans and camera enthusiasts. The 15 Ultra is available at Rs. 109,999 on Amazon, Mi.com and through the company's offline channel partners. The company is running some bank offers that can bring down the price of the smartphone to under a lakh, which makes it a sweet deal.

Of course the tricky part is the availability (though the price raises eyebrows too) which is to say, it's hard to get. AliExpress is the only current retailer where you'll be able to find it (unless they find a way to drop it in the Xiaomi Amazon store, but good luck). Meanwhile the price tag of $1,449.42 is enough to give one pause as well. That's compounded by the questionable nature of its U.S. performance. All that being said, this is a great phone in basically every way a phone can be great. From the design to the performance to the camera, this phone stands above anything you can find in the states. But yeah, it comes with a massive price tag as well, and that's not nothing.

We contend that Xiaomi 15 Ultra is a viable premium handset worthy of its S$1,699 (512GB) sticker price, but that’s relative to other premium flagship phones launched in 2025. It checks all the boxes as a well-rounded premium device from an Ultra perspective. You’re getting an excellent, high-resolution display capable of smooth visuals and accurate response, paired with one of the best mobile processors you can buy in 2025. The battery life is fantastic. It also has a set of cameras that can turn a hopeless photographer who can’t tell his subject apart from his finger in the frame, into a semi-decent shooter. Even its HyperOS 2 interface is starting to measure up to rivalling operating system reskins with more logical flow and user intuitiveness, save for a few hiccups that will require little more than rearranging and attention to detail.

Priced at Rs 109,999, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra stands out as one of the best camera-centric smartphones available in the market. The Leica-tuned rear cameras deliver impressive imaging and videography performance, though the front-facing camera leaves room for improvement. Beyond its impressive camera capabilities, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is a well-rounded flagship, featuring a brilliant display, strong performance, and solid battery life. It also brings a useful set of AI features that could enhance the user experience. While Xiaomi has made notable improvements in software, there is still scope for further refinement and smoothness in the overall experience.

After using the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, I think it’s a brilliant phone that’s hard to ignore if you love cameras and speed. That 200-megapixel periscope lens is a beauty — taking photos in tough light or zooming in without messing up is just great. Add to it the Snapdragon 8 Elite powering through apps and games, and a lovely 6.73-inch AMOLED screen that makes Netflix look ace, and you’ve got a real flagship. The battery’s solid — 5,410mAh kept me going all day, and the 90W fast charging is a lifesaver. The Silver Chrome style’s a nice bonus too — vintage camera vibes done well. That said, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra isn’t spot on. It’s a bit heavy at 229 grams and 9.4mm thick, and that big camera bump isn’t pretty — though I’m starting to like it.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra remains one of the best camera-focused smartphones on the market. Its unique Photography Kit is a treat for camera lovers. Beyond cameras, the phone is a powerhouse and provides a reliable gaming experience with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The new HyperOS 2 unlocks smoother animations, but Xiaomi still has a way to go with AI, particularly Gen AI-backed features. In that case, the Galaxy S25 Ultra remains the champ for productivity-leaning customers with its Galaxy AI innovations and in-built stylus (SPen). The iPhone 16 Pro Max is another top choice for people already familiar with the Apple ecosystem and iOS. However, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is equally worth considering, thanks to its relatively more affordable price tag and top-notch hardware.

So, overall, if I had to sum it up—for 150K, this is the best phone. Zero doubt about that. Instead of getting the OnePlus 13 or S25+, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will give you a much, much better camera experience. But is its camera better than the VIVO X200 Pro? I don’t think so, because the VIVO X200 Pro’s portraits are just in a different league compared to the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. And is this phone better than the Samsung S25 Ultra? Again, I don’t think so. That’s because the S25 Ultra offers a better software experience and an overall more refined phone experience than the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The S25 Ultra simply feels like a more mature device. But for 150,000, you can’t go wrong with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra—just like I said at the beginning… It scores A+ in all five key pillars of a flagship smartphone.

Were my initial expectations for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra too high? I think so. I was so looking forward to the phone’s camera, the issues I noticed clouded my early judgement. While these problems remain, by testing the camera more I found what I thought was missing — character, and an almost indefinable magic. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s camera is a high performance, supremely capable, and superbly usable every day partner, but to really see what it can do, you simply have to go out and push both it’s, and your own ability. Very few camera phones reward you for doing this, but the Xiaomi 15 Ultra adores it. However, to get to this point, you have to accept the device’s idiosyncrasies.

As is the case with all global variants of phones (read: ones that aren't officially sold in the US), you'll have to export the Xiaomi 15 Ultra to use one. It currently retails for 1499 EUR, roughly $1,555 USD. That's not counting the impending upcharges due to recent US tariffs. So if you want one of the best phones on the market, you'll have to pay to play. Fortunately, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is one of the easier phones for me to recommend to power users and tech enthusiasts, thanks to its capable camera system and onslaught of specs. At this point, I might even go about the rest of my MWC week using just the phone to capture product shots and videos instead of my bulkier Sony camera.

Yes, but only if you’re willing to spend some money. This is an expensive phone at north of $1,600 after converting from Euros. It won’t be hard to import from the U.K. or Europe, where the 15 Ultra has wide availability, but throw in the $200 Photography Kit, and it becomes an even pricier proposition.

As the value of cameras has increased in phones, various makers have gone about their efforts in differing ways. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra makes a no-compromise stance on its camera quality by adopting huge sensors, Leica-approved lens quality, and a significant range of focal lengths in its arrangement. For photo aficionados looking for classic quality, it's an untouchable offering. Sure, you've got to consolidate the fact it's squeezed into a giant camera enclosure, that it costs a fair packet too, and for true camera-like use you'll want to add the Xiaomi 15 Ultra Photography Kit 'Legend Edition' too. But this just adds yet another unique factor for this handset, making it even more impressive – and even more niche.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is an excellent camera phone. At its price, we need to nitpick, and the wide camera missing out on a variable aperture, downgraded ultra-wide camera, and occasional photo processing issues hold it back from perfection. Nevertheless, anyone who wants exceptional zoom, a 1-inch main sensor, an excellent camera grip, and Leica’s classical image tuning would be well served with Xiaomi’s latest Ultra flagship.

If my drastic shift in tone between sections didn’t make it clear, the software offering is by far my biggest issue with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Everything else looks crisp and polished, while the software continues to languish with its cluttered design and baffling decisions. Equally, with Honor stepping up alongside Samsung and Google to offer seven years of software support, Xiaomi is officially falling behind. Otherwise, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra made a very strong first impression on me.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra delivered a strong performance for an ultra-premium device providing a balanced experience among all technical attributes, particularly in touch responsiveness. Apart from the occasional unintended touches, the device demonstrated excellent precision, smoothness, and responsiveness. The 15 Ultra’s readability performance showed significant improvement over the 14 Ultra, mainly because of a much higher peak brightness, which was measured at 3,065 nits compared with the 14 Ultra’s 1,356 nits. As of February 2025, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is the brightest device tested in the database. However, its contrast under sunlight was not better managed than that of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, and the screen showed much fewer details when compared with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The Xiaomi Ultra 15 delivered a very good performance in the DXOMARK Camera tests, achieving the best results of a Xiaomi device to date. The new flagship comes with impressive imaging specs, including a total of four image sensors, with pixel counts from 50MP to a whopping 200MP, photo and video HDR modes, as well as a host of other features and modes. In terms of camera hardware, the main improvements over the predecessor are the pixel count on the long tele camera (now 200MP sensor) and the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. In our photo tests, overall image quality was excellent, with a wide dynamic range, low noise and nice colors. However, the Xiaomi’s main camera lagged behind the best devices in some areas.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is a great Android phone. It has very few shortcomings, namely a slightly buggy interface and battery life that could have been slightly better. However, that's where most of the criticism ends, as the rest of the package is quite intriguing and boasts plenty of strengths. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra has a really capable camera package, which excels in both still photography and video-recording, but it also has excellent performance, an interesting design with intriguing accessories, and finally, a lovely screen that's one of the brightest we've measured so far. However, with a starting price of EUR1,500, it doesn't come cheap, and it might be argued that you might find better value with a Galaxy S25 Ultra.

If you're planning to get the Xiaomi 15 Ultra for photography, be sure to also pick up the S$199 Photography Kit Legend Edition, which is similar to last year's version, except now it has an optional thumb rest you can add. You can also add CPL or ND filters to the phone, letting you do more creative shots. For those pre-ordering the Ultra from March 3 to 23 in Singapore, you can get the Photography Kit Legend Edition bundled and a Redmi Pad SE. At S$1,699 for the 512GB and S$1,849 for the 1TB model, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is still a great photography phone with flagship features. But I think I much prefer the Xiaomi 14 Ultra with its variable aperture that enables more exceptional shots. I'm also not a fan of what appears to be AI-generated zoomed-in shots. Get from Shopee or Lazada.

It has a four-camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 200-megapixel telephoto sensor, a 50-megapixel floating telephoto sensor, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is one of, if not the best, camera phone available in 2025 – even if it does come at quite a premium at £1299. The camera setup has no notable weaknesses, with a 1-inch backed primary camera, capable telephoto and periscope lenses and a solid ultrawide to complete the experience. Paired with an intuitively designed camera app and plenty of shooting modes, it’s almost effortless to capture a stunning image with the 15 Ultra.

The best and worst things about the 15 Ultra come down to its camera. I think the one thing most likely to put anyone off buying this phone — price aside — is that the lens module is a bit of an eyesore. It’s the first thing anyone I’ve seen in the past week has noticed about the phone, and not in a good way. But then you start using the camera, and you get it. Yes, it’s ugly. But there was probably no other way to make it this damn good.

I've been using the Xiaomi 15 Ultra for a month by the time I finished the final edit to this video. I have a lot of thoughts, but the biggest one: yes, this phone dethrones the Vivo X200 Pro/X100 Ultra as the new best camera phone. The new 200-megapixel Periscope sensor with 1/1.4-inch sensor, along with a very capable 3X 70mm, and an excellent main camera pushes this ahead of the pack.

Gone is the variable aperture camera setup, although this blower can still capture stunning portraits in all kinds of light. As long as your subject doesn't move too much. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is just as beefy as any other flagship Android, with the Snapdragon 8 Elite running things. So gamers will be happy enough, whether you play Genshin, Wuthering Waves or whatever. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra also serves up a bigger battery, if not as big as the OnePlus 13, OPPO Find X8 Pro etc. Life is good enough to keep you going all day, even with a fair bit of video chat, gaming etc. And you can recharge in no time thanks to the super-fast charge speeds.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra pushes the boundaries of what a flagship phone can offer. With its stunning display, versatile camera system, and premium build quality, it provides an all-encompassing experience that caters to demanding users. While it may not match the long-term software support of Google or Samsung, its blend of performance, design, and camera technology positions it as an attractive choice for those looking for a high-performance device. If you’re willing to invest in a cutting-edge smartphone, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is a solid contender that doesn’t disappoint.

Don’t let the software nonsense detract from the phone’s strengths. With HyperOS onboard (based on Android 15), there’s a ton of the usual bloat and overengineered apps to contend with anyway, which is just part and parcel of the Xiaomi experience, even after moving on from MIUI. In any case, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra remains a showcase for some of the best hardware money can buy, particularly in the camera department. Xiaomi’s software promise of four years of OS and six years of security updates is good too.

While we wouldn’t recommend getting the Xiaomi 15 Ultra at full price if you have the previous model, the number of upgrades over the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, and basically every other Xiaomi model, makes the new Ultra an easy recommendation, with the usual caveats when it comes to the Chinese brand. Software support is not as long as similarly-priced Samsung or Google phones, and there were at least 10 third-party apps pre-installed (more if you don’t opt out in a post-setup step). On the other hand, performance was theoretically higher than on the rival Galaxy S25 Ultra we tested, even if not noticeable. And the rest of the phone keeps this tone of a mixture of highs and lows.

Spend any length of time with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and you can’t help but fall for its fantastic photos. No other phone can match its epic sensor selection and characterful image processing, while the optional photography kit makes it the obvious choice for anyone who operates in focal lengths and exposure values. True, this isn’t a size zero smartphone – but it otherwise looks the part, and doesn’t really disappoint anywhere else. It has power and impactful display you’d expect of a 2025 flagship, while battery life has improved just enough over last year to edge ahead of big-name rivals like the Pixel 9 Pro XL and Galaxy S25 Ultra. It narrowly undercuts them on price when speccing the same amount of storage, too. There’s no need to spend quite so much if you’re after more of an all-rounder – most of which are still perfectly capable of taking great pics in most conditions – but none blur the lines between phone and compact camera quite like this.

Overall the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is a great phone with all the qualities you’d expect from a premium-priced smartphone. The camera quality is excellent all round, and doesn’t fall into the trap of utilizing too much AI or post-image processing in a way that spoils the final image. Battery life is similarly good, and you shouldn’t have issues running out of power in the middle of your normal day. The thing I like the most about the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is the design of the SIlver Chrome edition. I’ve made no secret of my dislike for large camera bumps on phones, so the fact Xiaomi has adopted that shape to emphasize the retro camera design is pretty marvelous. I hope that’s a trend that continues, especially if Xiaomi continues its partnership with Leica in the future. There are some issues I have with the 15 Ultra, though.

Xiaomi is bringing sizeable upgrades to the 15 Ultra; there's a new 200MP telephoto camera that takes amazing photos, a bigger 5410mAh battery that lasts over a day, and the latest hardware currently available. There's still a 1-inch sensor at the back, and it continues to take breathtaking photos most of the time. Combine that with a brighter AMOLED panel and better software optimization, and the 15 Ultra is a delight to use. There are issues with overheating at times and the camera being inconsistent with HDR imagery, but on the whole, the 15 Ultra is without a doubt one of the best phones I used in 2025.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra didn't exactly surprise us - for another generation it's one of our favorite cameraphones. And when you start trying to put it into context, it may very well emerge as the uncontested number one for photography this year. The pairing of two telephotos with different strengths beats having just one telephoto, transformative as it may be (we're looking at you, vivos). Meanwhile, the 1-inch type main camera becomes an unexpected differentiator in a year when no one else seems to want to use this type of sensor, much less in a globally available model. So yeah, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra seems like an easy recommendation for the photography buffs among you, and the new and improved accessory kit does make it an even sweeter package (if you spend the extra cash, that is). Sure, selfies aren't exactly to our liking, and the video processing could use some fine tuning.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is an ambitious flagship that delivers on almost every front. It boasts top-tier performance, a stunning display, and a great battery life — coupled with one of the best camera systems out there right now. While the software experience still feels a bit dated, and the camera consistency could use some refinement, these are minor complaints in the grand scheme of things. If you’re looking for a powerhouse Android phone that pushes boundaries, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is an excellent choice. Of course, if you want it, you’ll have to live in a location where it’s available, and it’s not coming to the U.S.

As is the case with all global variants of phones (read: ones that aren't officially sold in the US), you'll have to export the Xiaomi 15 Ultra to use one. It currently retails for 1499 EUR, which roughly converts to $1,555 USD.

The Xiaomi 15S Pro isn’t a radical redesign, but its Xuanjie O1 chip and anniversary-exclusive touches (XRING branding, Longlin Fiber Edition) deliver emotional and technical value. If you’re curious about Xiaomi’s in-house silicon leap, the 15S Pro is a compelling choice.
