HP has clearly aimed low with the 255 G2, but in doing so, has hit the mark. Although its performance isn't great, it's hard to be really critical of this laptop, since it's very well priced and it does exactly what it's intended for. While the low-power processor and fairly limited graphics hardware will definitely struggle with demanding tasks, the inclusion of 4GB of memory ensures it remains perfectly responsive and does a good job running light software.

This is mainly because of the fast and efficient AMD Zen 2 APUs. Speaking of which, despite the fact that our device has just one preinstalled stick of 8GB DDR4-3200MHz RAM, the performance is definitely there. In short, the HP 255 G8 is a light and budget device that can be a decent performer if you choose a configuration with AMD Zen 2 CPUs. These processors are fast, the iGPUs can be used for light gaming and 4K video content, the battery life is great, and the notebook has a comfortable keyboard.
