Honestly, there's very little to complain about the ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition. Everything about the laptop is amazing but if there's one nitpick that I have to choose, it would be that the webcam is missing which is quite essential for the current circumstances. It's also a pity that ASUS Malaysia has no plans (yet) to import the advantage editions to Malaysia so we have no idea of how much the price tag is, making it difficult to do any point of comparison. But one thing is for sure - be prepared to spend a hefty amount of money if you want this bad boy.

Based on the little information available in the ASUS review guides, this G15 Advantage might end up hotter than the standard Strix G15, which ran fairly hot already. That’s not really a surprise given the components are designed to run at higher power in the Advantage models, and we’ll need to further test how the improved thermal module copes with this increased power. Other than that, though, I’d expect the Strix G15 to be a competitive product. At this point, I don’t have a time estimate for the review, all I can say is that I don’t have a review sample yet, so a review won’t happen sooner than a few weeks. Unlike some other, more understated systems, there's no mistaking the ROG Strix G15 for anything other than a gaming notebook, but it is still aesthetically appealing in our opinion and it's well behaved in most scenarios. It's only while gaming that its fans spin up and make any noise. In terms of the platform's capabilities, AMD's clearly got the goods. AMD's Ryzen 5000 and Radeon RX 6000M series combo for laptops will offer strong performance all around. Intel's got some advantages in terms of IO and single-threaded performance with its latest Tiger Lake-based platforms, but those aren't enough to overshadow what AMD has done here for gaming machines.

And the system’s standing toe-to-toe with some of the biggest names in the industry. Did it win every round? No, but for the hundreds of dollars you’re saving it’s pretty damned close. The G15 isn’t perfect -- the screen could be brighter and more vivid, and the SSD should definitely be faster. And would it kill you Asus to try to fit a webcam back into the picture? If power (and a more vivid display) are your most important priorities, I recommend checking out the $2,999 Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model.

When thinking about buying a budget anything, the big question you need to ask is, "Where did they cut corners?"; followed by "Do I care which corners are lying on the floor?" A lot of models will cut memory down to 8GB; that's not a tradeoff you really want to make. Other common manufacturer concessions are the screen, build quality and RGB lighting (for gaming laptops). In the case of the Asus ROG Strix G15, the chosen slashes are on the screen and webcam. For the latter, you'd probably be better off buying a standalone over any Asus would have offered at this laptop's price, anyway. The screen's pretty meh, though.
