As you would expect from a Samsung mid-ranger, Galaxy A33 5G excels on multimedia and photography front. The phone feels great at hand, despite the plastic build and has IP67 rating. However, Samsung should have spent more time optimizing the new Exynos 1280 chipset.

The Samsung Galaxy A33 is a triumph of design that brings some of the best qualities in their higher end flagships to a sub RM1.5K price point. You get IP67 water resistance, a large battery, a great display and an OIS-stabilised rear quad camera with expandable storage too. Add in 4 years of OS updates and the A33 becomes a sound investment indeed.

So to wrap it up, I think out of all the 3 A series phones of this year – the A33, A53, and A73, the biggest winner of all is the Galaxy A33 5G thanks to the improvements in the main camera having OIS, IP67 rating, and the full software experience that is identical to its flagship counterparts. Considering the Galaxy A33 5G as a full-package experience with the price tag of RM1,499 attached to it, I’d say it’s definitely worth it. If you’re one that doesn’t really mind how smooth you scroll your social media apps or care about how many megapixels you can get out of the sensor, the Galaxy A33 5G is truly the one you should look for. In many ways, it is on-par with the Galaxy A53 5G too – which is why I think the Galaxy A33 5G is a better choice.

And so, in conclusion, I think out of all the 3 phones – as in the A33, A53, and A73, this Galaxy A33 got the biggest upgrade compared to the last generation. The three biggest upgrades are OIS for the main camera, IP67 rating, and also the software support policy to match its flagship counterparts. At the price of RM1,499, I still think it’s a bit steep – but it’s a price worth paying. I think that if you don’t particularly care about refresh rate or having the most megapixel count, then the Galaxy A33 5G is a really solid phone.

The rear camera quad camera array is equipped beyond the norm as its primary rear 48MP camera features optical image stabilisation which is something that’s rarer than hen’s teeth in budget phones and which gives the Galaxy A33 a decisive edge for steadier shots and videos. Up front is a fairly standard 13MP fixed focus selfie camera but it and the rear camera are capable of up to [email protected] video. Belying its size, the Galaxy A33 has a large 5,000mAh battery that’s able to last north of two plus days with modest use based on official sources. The phone also supports 25W fast wired charging though the pickle here is getting a compatible charger and they omitted one in the box this time around. For RM1,499 and with features that are rare in a budget phone in its price range like IP67 water resistance, 5G connectivity, stereo speakers, fast charging and OIS in its camera, our Galaxy A33 first look is very promising indeed. Stay tuned for our full review where we put it through its paces!

Our review of the Galaxy A33 shows that it is the most balanced Samsung Galaxy A-series phone in the Philippines. Despite its fair share of shortcomings, the Galaxy A33 offers a number of features that are not present in other mid-range phones at the Php 20k price segment.

The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G has some clear strengths: the cameras, with their various modes, deliver social-media-ready snaps; the screen is bright and bold; the design is attractive; and the price is relatively affordable. While the A33 has a few rough edges, like its processing power and charging speed, the price makes these downsides a bit more palatable.

Sporting similar designs and internals, just what is the difference between the Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A53 5G? After spending some time with the duo we have a good idea of the strengths of each handset and which might be the better choice.

With a fast OLED screen, snappy chipset and an attractive design, the Galaxy A33 5G looks to be a very good mid-range phone at an even better price.

The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G makes quite a move from its position in 2021, with a new design and display, alongside boosted hardware, making this phone sit closer to the Galaxy A53 5G that it launches alongside. This reinvention of this phone sees the price jump from £249 to £329 (in the UK), breaking that £300 barrier. But in return you get a much better device. We suspect that Samsung wants to double down on this sweet spot because it's had great success here. First impressions of this handset are good, the design and display are immediately appealing - and we'll be bringing you a full run down of the performance as soon as we can.

The Galaxy A33 5G is looking to be a bit of a bargain. Costing just £329, you can buy two of these for the price of just one Galaxy S22, with a little bit of change left over, too. It might not be the flashiest of handsets, but following my brief hands-on session, there’s a lot to like here.

It’s clear that Samsung genuinely wants the Galaxy A33 to be a better device than all of its predecessors. Our initial impression from the Galaxy A33 hands-on is that it has succeeded in this mission. The new chipset makes it a capable device for its price point. The addition of IP67 water and dust resistance is just the cherry on top. Throw in the great software support and you’ve got a mid-range phone that stands in a league of its own.

At £379 for the A33 5G and £399 for the A53 5G, we’re impressed both phones cram in so much, and overjoyed we’re not seeing piddly 64GB storage capacities and mediocre screens in midrange Samsung phones anymore. The Galaxy A53 5G, in particular, seems perfect for someone who wants Galaxy S22 experiences without the flagship price. Meanwhile, the A33 5G loses a little more screen to that notch, scales back the refresh rate and reduces the megapixels. That said, pretty much everything else is identical across both phones, from the in-display fingerprint scanners to the IP67 water and dust resistance, through to massive batteries and capable 5nm processors. Expected to launch for pre-order right now, and be available for purchase either at the end of March or the beginning of April 2022, if you’re a Samsung fan in need of a cost-effective upgrade, both these phones should be blipping your radar.

To bring things up to a close, the Galaxy A33 5G seems like a pretty sweet deal. Dare I say sweeter than that for it's pricier brother, the Galaxy A53 5G? Samsung has made a few major improvements, which combined together make for a significant upgrade over the predecessor, including a major jump in processing, AI, and GPU power. When you sprinkle in the optical image stabilization, louder speakers, and better durability, it starts to look mighty appealing. That said, we can't wait to do a proper dive into this phone and bring you a full review of the Galaxy A33, so stay tuned for that.
