The OnePlus Nord 5 lands in a segment of the market that's hugely competitive. It's an area where you get a lot of phone for your money, so you have to decide what's important to you. What the OnePlus Nord 5 does is strike a great compromise: the performance and display are great, and I've really enjoyed gaming on this phone. The software is clean and usable, too, so it's a pleasure to use on a daily basis. If that's what you're looking for, then the OnePlus Nord 5 comes recommended. But it doesn't stand out in the same way that the Nord 4 did with its metal design. That's a shame, because this Nord, while good, is just a little more normal.

At its starting price of Rs 31,999, the OnePlus Nord 5 is a very good value for money for those who want a phone that pretty much does it all. In many ways, it is a classic Nord, but with innards that are close to budget flagship level. It ticks most mid-segment boxes and has no deal-breaking shortcomings. Those who want brute processing power might prefer the Poco F7 or the iQOO Neo 10, but those who want an all-rounder are likely to prefer the Nord 5 for its better main and selfie cameras, and also the slightly more rounded experience from Oxygen OS. This is not to say that it is perfect. We would have loved a better secondary camera on the back and an IP68 rating, and we would be lying if we said we did not miss the stand-out metal-infused design of the Nord 4, but there is still a lot to like in the Nord 5, simply because it does everything well, from handling games to taking pictures to getting through long doomscrolling sessions.

My overall experience with the OnePlus Nord 5 has been overwhelmingly positive. While I may not be the biggest fan of the subtle shifts in its aesthetic and design, the device’s performance has truly impressed me. I would wholeheartedly recommend the OnePlus Nord 5 to a family member, especially if they are seeking a well-rounded smartphone without necessarily chasing the bleeding edge of flagship specifications. It’s true that the OnePlus Nord 5 does omit a few features that a “spec-hunting” flagship user might prioritize. The absence of wireless charging and a formalized IP rating are two notable omissions that prevent it from being a “true” flagship in every sense. However, it’s crucial to understand that this isn’t the target audience for the OnePlus Nord 5.Instead, the prime demographic for this phone is someone like my son, now a teenager, who values different aspects.

Upgrading to the Nord 5 does net you quite a few bonuses, starting with a better camera experience. Compared with the OnePlus Nord CE5, you’ll enjoy more natural looking contrast and bold colours, which I personally like - plus a 50MP selfie camera, which I don’t. Too much detail, you see. The OnePlus Nord 5 also offers a performance boost, thanks to the Snapdragon smarts. Gaming is certainly a smoother experience, although both the Nord CE5 and 5 sport the same battery capacity and charging. OxygenOS 15 is mostly the same across both smartphones. However, the OnePlus Nord CE5 is lacking a Plus key as well as always on display, along with some other settings.

It looks great. It performs brilliantly. The battery lasts forever. The camera is more than good enough. And it all starts at the very reasonable price of £449. If you’re looking for a mid-range Android phone in 2025, the Nord 5 should absolutely be on your shortlist.

At Rs 31,999, the OnePlus Nord 5 is an affordable flagship in every sense with no major compromises when it comes to either performance or experience. I would continue recommending this phone for younger users for it ticks all the boxes without hurting the pockets of parents too much.

The OnePlus Nord 5 doesn’t feel like a Nord anymore. That’s not a criticism, it’s a wake-up call to every other phone in the mid-range segment. This is the first Nord device to pack a Snapdragon 8-series chipset, a 144Hz OLED panel, and a camera system that borrows heavily from OnePlus’ flagships. While last year’s Nord 4 charmed us with its metal design, the Nord 5 feels like OnePlus turning a page, leaning harder into performance, AI, and competitive gaming than it ever has in this series. With a revamped design language, more ambitious hardware, and a price that still stays comfortably below premium flagships, the Nord 5 tries to do it all. But does it manage to keep its promise without overreaching? Let’s find out.

Ok, I guess I have covered almost everything about the Nord 5! And like I said at the beginning of this video, I believe OnePlus has made the right compromises in the right areas! We get a smart, meaningful compromise, and it really shows here. Just take a look at the scorecard: the Nord 5 earns a solid A in display, performance, software, and battery and a respectable B in the camera department. Yes, you might find better camera performance for the money elsewhere. But what you won’t get is this level of refinement across the board. So yeah, the OnePlus Nord 5 might just be the best midrange phone. Right Now. In 2025.

The OnePlus Nord 5 is an impressive mid-range smartphone that combines flagship performance, a sleek design, and excellent battery life, starting at ₹31,999. It features a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, a vibrant 144Hz AMOLED display, and a robust 6,800mAh battery with 80W fast charging. While the camera system is versatile, the ultra-wide lens is somewhat disappointing. Overall, the Nord 5 offers a refined software experience and gamer-friendly features. Against competitors like the Poco F7, which has a larger battery and newer chipset, the Nord 5 shines with better cameras and design. For those seeking a balanced option under ₹35,000, the OnePlus Nord 5 is a standout choice for 2025.

In isolation, the OnePlus Nord 5 is a compelling cut-price handset. You’re getting a bright, colourful display, very capable front and rear cameras, and a smooth-running version of Android that doesn’t overload you with bloat in the way many cheap smartphones do. A handful of play-friendly specs add extra gamer appeal, and it’s great to see the customisable Plus key not being reserved for the firm’s top-tier models. The move away from metal makes this much less of a design stand-out than its predecessor, though. Combined with the redesigned rear camera island, the Nord 5 really looks quite generic. You could argue the same about the Poco F7, but that has a much bigger battery, newer generation chipset, and better water resistance – for less money. If phone photography isn’t your top priority, it’s the obvious choice.

Design, enduring performance and improved low light photography: these are the areas of focus the company was aiming at when producing the OnePlus Nord 5, and, for the most part, it hits its mark. While I love the phone’s aesthetics and premium feel, I would have liked more premium materials in its construction, especially when the Nord 4 stood out in this area. The battery life and fast charging, relative to the phone’s performance, meet expectations, but don’t really beat them, and photography is incrementally but undeniably improved over the Nord 4, especially in low light. Why some markets receive a device with a smaller battery and slower charging than the previous Nord is frustrating and unclear, considering the jump in price, but performance in these areas is still respectable.

The best thing I can say about the OnePlus Nord 5 is that if I didn’t have to immediately move on to another handset and instead keep this as my daily driver for a bit longer, then I wouldn’t be displeased. I’ve loved having an epic selfie camera available in a pinch, and gaming on the larger 144Hz just feels fantastic. When layered on top of the excellent software experience that OxygenOS brings to the table, there’s a lot to like about the OnePlus Nord 5. I only wish that the phone had kept, or at least evolved, the far more exciting design of the OnePlus Nord 4, and the battery downgrades do mean that there are better options amongst the best mid-range phones when it comes to longevity. The software bugs I experienced during my time with the Nord 5 also prevented me from truly settling in with the device, even though I loved everything else that was on offer, so I can only hope that this is an issue relegated to my pre-release review unit.

Now comes the most important part — who needs it? If you’re looking for a solid mid-range phone under Rs 35,000, the OnePlus Nord 5 is a reliable and strong contender to choose. It offers a 144Hz display, great for everyday use, gaming, and content consumption. Performance is reliable with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, and the massive 6600mAh battery easily lasts a day or even more. But OnePlus’ decision to ditch the metal frame in favour of plastic seems a big step down from last year’s all-metallic Nord 4, plus the cameras need some improvement especially in night photography. Despite these shortcomings, the OnePlus Nord 5 is still a solid all-rounder option without costing a premium.

The OnePlus Nord 5 isn’t trying to be a full-blown flagship killer, but it gets surprisingly close in areas that matter. With a powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, a sharp 144Hz display, and a massive 6800mAh battery, it delivers an experience that should easily satisfy power users. Whether it’s gaming, multitasking, or battery endurance, the Nord 5 consistently holds its own. It’s also encouraging to see the flagship OnePlus AI suite trickle down to the Nord series. Features like AI Call Assistant, the new Translate app, and AI Plus Mind give the software experience a clear edge over most rivals in the segment. That said, the camera system still leaves room for refinement, particularly in low light and portrait processing. While it’s not a dealbreaker, it’s an area where competing mid-range phones have started pulling ahead.

In some areas, the OnePlus Nord 5 blows the competition out of the water: the 144Hz display, outstanding performance and battery life that outpaces phones that cost more than twice its price are all very impressive, and the main reasons why you’d want to choose the Nord 5. On the other hand, there are some areas in which it feels like it’s lagging. The rear cameras getting no major improvements over the previous generation is a shame, especially when rivals like the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro are including telephoto cameras now, and software support is fairly middling, too. Choose the OnePlus Nord 5 if you care about blistering performance and epic battery life above all else. Otherwise, the Google Pixel 9a remains the best mid-range phone overall, as it offers a more balanced experience that performs well in all areas, rather than excelling in a couple and falling a little behind in the rest.

With meaningful upgrades over its predecessor, the OnePlus Nord 5 is one of the better options to pick from, if you're looking to spend around Rs. 30,000 on your next smartphone. It offers reliable CPU and camera performance, and long-lasting battery life, along with support for fast charging. I miss the all-metal design of the OnePlus Nord 4, but the newest model offers enough in terms of upgrades around the same price. The Poco F7 is the biggest rival to the OnePlus Nord 5, and it is equipped with a more powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip and a larger 7,550mAh battery. However, I would recommend waiting for our review of the handset to see whether its camera performance is comparable to the Nord 5. Other handsets worth considering in this price segment include the Motorola Edge 60 Pro, the iQOO Neo 10, the Vivo V50 (Review), and the Samsung Galaxy A36. You can also consider the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, which frequently drops under the Rs. 35,000 mark.

All in all, the OnePlus Nord 5 is a nice all-rounder with long battery life, fast charging and great primary and selfie camera performance. However, you can find better alternatives, sometimes even at a lower price. The ultrawide camera, in particular, is disappointing. There is now a plastic frame and back, and the IP rating hasn't been improved. In the EU, the battery capacity and charging power have even been downgraded compared to last year's model. The chipset, too, isn't particularly powerful in this price range. Overall, we liked the Nord 5, but you'll be better off waiting until the price settles down in a few months' time, before you actively start considering.

If you're looking for an all-rounder smartphone under Rs 40,000, the OnePlus Nord 5 truly delivers, and does so with all its might. It offers excellent performance and impressive battery life, all while providing a fluid and enjoyable experience on its large AMOLED display. The design feels premium, and the white variant colour we reviewed, Marble Sands, looks particularly elegant. Now, the camera may not be the best in its class, but in our experience, it didn’t disappoint that much. It’s capable of capturing good-quality photos in daylight, though it does struggle slightly in low-light conditions. That said, at Rs Rs 31,999, the Nord 5 genuinely shines. It is easily one of the best smartphones you can buy right now in this price range, and arguably the best in the game if performance and overall value are your top priorities.

The new OnePlus Nord 5 has now arrived on my desk for an unboxing. This is the latest mid-tier release from OnePlus and the replacement for the year-old OnePlus Nord 4. I was very impressed by last year’s OnePlus Nord 4 with its all-metal design, so much so that it is still in daily use by my wife, and it is still in great condition. This means that the new kid on the block has some big shoes to fill.

The OnePlus Nord 5 redefines what users can expect from a premium mid-range smartphone. Priced at ₹31,999 onwards, it delivers an almost flagship-like experience in many areas – performance, display, battery, and cameras, while retaining the classic Nord identity of value and design. Things we liked on the Nord 5 are its crisp 1.5K+ and fluid 144 Hz AMOLED screen, paired with the matte glass back design, fast Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 with 12 GB RAM + 512 GB Storage option, smooth 144 fps gaming, advanced VC cooling, and massive sized 6,800 mAh battery, top-notch camera package with 4K at 60 fps support on both sides. The new ‘Plus Key’ is a welcome addition, bringing extra customization and quick access functionality that power users will love. The Nord 5 packs a punch with its 50 MP LYT-700 OIS camera and the new 50 MP JN5 autofocus selfie shooter, both capable of 4K video recording at 60 fps, something rarely seen in this price segment.

As usual, I slipped my SIM into the Nord 5 to use it as my full-time smartphone. First, the camera tech has been upgraded on the hardware and software side. I found most of my test photos had a flagship-style shine, with natural looking contrast and realistic colours (mostly). Performance on the OnePlus Nord 5 may rest on a slightly older chipset (the SD 8s Gen 3), but gaming on the likes of Wuthering Waves is still a smooth experience. Unfortunately games like WW do wipe the battery quick, but otherwise the battery life is excellent. Just don't expect it to match the Poco F7 or some other recent rivals.

OnePlus Nord 5 is the most complete Nord device to date. It balances well between a great display, strong battery life, solid performance, and useful AI features in a well-built and designed body. The replacement of the alert slider with the Plus Key may not be welcomed by many, but the new features it unlocks — especially AI smarts — give it purpose. If you’re looking for a phone in the Rs 30,000 segment that doesn’t compromise on essentials, this is it. This phone is not without competition as there are others that offer newer chipsets or wireless charging in this price range, while the Nord 5 takes a more balanced approach.
