Is the Acer Chromebook perfect? To put it flatly, no. If we were sourcing the parts, we would have specified a better, slightly higher-res screen, a Core i3 CPU with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, and much better speakers and sound engineering. Of course, then it would be a $400 or $500 Chromebook. For $199, we’re happy to live with its shortcomings in order to be able to afford one (or even two) extra Internet devices around the house.

If you're looking for a bargain on a chromebook, and you value function over form, it's really hard to do better than the Chromebook 15. You might be giving up style, but in return you'll get a bigger screen and absurdly long battery life—while only paying $200. If design does matter to you or you'd like clearer visuals, however, you could shell out a little more for our Editors' Choice pick, the Acer Chromebook 14.
