Reviews for the Sony Xperia 10 III

83.4% Sony Xperia 10 III review - A compact 5G smartphone with IP certification | Notebookcheck
Sony squeezes a lot of modern technology into a compact smartphone. In addition to a current Qualcomm 5G SoC, fast USB port, IP certification, and powerful battery, Sony has also equipped its smartphone with a triple camera system that deserves its name. Our test shows where it stumbles.

The Sony Xperia 10 III is without doubt an unusual smartphone, and for the most part that’s actually a good thing, especially when it comes to the design and the display. However it does take its eye off the ball in a couple of key areas like performance level and fast-charging capability.

Sony hasn’t released a budget phone globally in 2021, but the mid-range Xperia 10 III feels like it should be significantly more affordable. It sticks with a 60Hz display, while most phones shift to 90Hz or even 120Hz. There are still some fairly noticeable bezels too, which definitely aren't to everyone's tastes. The cameras are also extremely patchy, with charging speeds out of the box painfully slow. That’s not to say the Xperia 10 III doesn’t get anything right – far from it. Performance is fine and extends to mobile gaming, while battery life is among the best you’ll find anywhere. It still looks and feels like a premium handset, and the simple software experience is enjoyable. But Sony’s cautious spec sheet and comparatively high price tag means the Xperia 10 III needed to nail the basics. It simply doesn’t do that, making the phone hard to recommend.

The Sony Xperia 10 III is a uniquely equipped mid-ranger with a polished design, an unusually wide (and blissfully unobstructed) OLED display, and stellar battery life. But its performance falls well behind similarly priced rivals, and combined with the lack of a suitably fluid display, there’s been a disappointing lack of progress in some fundamental areas.

Sony Xperia 10 III
Source: GSM Choice English EN→zh-CN
Sony Xperia 10 III is a solid mid-range, but it doesn't get excited. The classic, characteristic for Sony design may be liked or seem secondary, but the 5G network support or significant improvements compared to its predecessor are definitely a good direction in the series evolution. The biggest advantages of the reviewed Xperia are the screen, IP65 / 68 certification, Gorilla Glass 6, compact housing and great battery life. However, the device's efficiency and photo quality are at an average level, which, combined with a relatively high price - 430 euros - makes it not a particularly profitable proposition. The biggest competition for this model will be Samsung Galaxy A52 5G, POCO F3, OnePlus Nord and Mi 11 Lite 5G.

60% Sony Xperia 10 III review: Underpowered and overpriced
Source: Expert Reviews English EN→zh-CN
A beautifully designed handset with a superb screen, the Xperia 10 III is let down by internals that don’t really justify the inflated price. Unless you really like the idea of a 21:9 screen or love Sony’s aesthetic enough to pay around £70 over the odds, then there’s not much reason to buy the Xperia 10 III. In terms of getting the most bang for your buck, then the Poco F3 is still as good as it gets. Alternatively, if photography is what’s most important to you, then the Pixel 4a remains the picture-taking king. Either way, you’ll end up saving £50 to £100 on the Xperia 10 III if you buy one of these handsets instead.

The Sony Xperia 10 III has possibly the worst camera we’ve tested at £400 (around $470, AU$740) for some time, fueled not just by the use of uninspiring sensors but poor processing too. Other Sony divisions make the very best phone camera sensors, and many of the best mirrorless cameras money can buy. But there’s no evidence of that expertise in the Xperia 10 III.

Sony Mobile reported its first profit in years back in April and that’s a solid indicator that the company is on the right track. Last year, I was pleasantly surprised with the Xperia 10 II - this phone quickly found its way to our Best phones under $400 pick, and for a good reason. It ticked all the right boxes at a crazy price. This year’s model - the Xperia 10 III - bears a heavy burden of expectations upon itself. And it sort of lives up to these expectations. The design remains the same with a couple of refinements here and there.

The Xperia 10 III, similarly to the bulk of Xperias in the past, is hard to get us excited and advising that you rush into stores to get one. It's got its flaws - the 60Hz display sticks out at a time when virtually the entire industry is switching to high refresh rates. And we've picked our words very carefully when talking about the charger but we do have very strong feelings in that respect. Stereo speakers are ever more common in the midrange too, and the Xperia misses out on this trend too. And for a phone that prides itself on its camera prowess, selfies sure aren't up to scratch. However, the Xperia has its fair share of advantages over the competition. Starting with the physical, the Xperia is one of the most compact devices you can find in the midrange. More importantly, it has full IP65/IP68 dust and water protection - best in class weather sealing.

这是比较大的智能手机尺寸,也十分常见。

大尺寸可以让屏幕有更高的分辨率。因而例如字体等的细节将会更丰富。不过另一方面,小屏幕的功耗会较低,而设备也会更轻盈小巧,售价更低。
