Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7

I spent a week in New York City with the Samsung Z Fold 7 - and it spoiled me big time
Source: Zdnet.com English EN→zh-CN
Samsung improved the weakest links of its book-style foldable with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and the result is a near-perfect phone. I'd love for it to have a bigger battery and a better zoom camera -- the Vivo X Fold 5 has both -- but Samsung's foldable has U.S availability, longer software support, and a better user interface. In short, this is the most polished folding phone experience, in my opinion. However, it doesn't come cheap. After a $100 price bump, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is Samsung's most expensive Fold yet, starting at $2,000. If you can spend that amount on a smartphone, you can't go wrong with this phone. It's a generational leap over its predecessor, and if you can find a good exchange offer, I recommend upgrading from last year's Z Fold 6, too. If you're a business professional or need a phone for productivity, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 should be on your radar.

100% Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 review: the thinner, lighter and better folding Android
Source: The Guardian English EN→zh-CN
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is an incredible, extremely expensive piece of technology that feels like a giant leap over previous models, removing many of the niggles and compromises that had become synonymous with foldables. By being so much thinner, lighter and normal-sized when shut, it feels just like a regular handset. Open it up and the internal screen is the best on a foldable yet. The crease is virtually gone, it is bright, crisp and makes the most of multitasking. The camera sticks miles out the back but generally doesn’t get in the way except to make the phone wobble on a table – a compromise worth making for a top-quality camera system. You even get the same chip, solid battery life and great software as Samsung’s top regular phones.

71% Samsung Galaxy Fold 7 review: This one is a winner
Source: Phone Arena English EN→zh-CN
The Samsung Galaxy Fold 7 is a terrific foldable, that much is certain. I don’t know if it’s overall the best foldable out there, because it absolutely is the most complete and impressive book-style foldable phone. From the record-thin and light design, to the outstanding screens and performance, to One UI 8, which is overflowing with great features, the Galaxy Fold 7 is a true powerhouse of a phone that will serve its future owners very, very well. Once you get over the super-premium starting price of $2000, I don’t think there will be many people out there who’ll regret buying the Galaxy Fold 7. It is that solid. Besides, don’t forget that Samsung is often running great deals on its flagship phones, so chances are you won’t even need to shell out the full $2000 to get it. Just be sure to check for any running promotions before making the purchase, and you’ll be fine!

80% Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultimate Review: Thinner, Faster, More Expensive
Source: Android Headlines English EN→zh-CN
Every time I pick up a new foldable to review, it becomes my daily driver. However, typically within a week or so, I’m back to my iPhone. There’s a couple of apps that I use constantly on my iPhone, and the battery life is typically better, plus the weight is a plus too. But with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, I just can’t go back to my iPhone. And believe me, I’ve tried. A couple times already, and keep coming back to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. That’s just how good it is this year. Samsung did a fantastic job here, while still leaving room for improvement next year. But, with the price increase now making this $1,999 to start, that does make it a bit of a bigger pill to swallow. So should you buy it? If you’ve been wanting to check out a folding phone, and have something to trade in, go ahead.

Yes, the Z Fold7 is way too expensive, it wobbles on the desk and you'll need to use your finger to scribble on the screen rather than with the S Pen. If you can ignore those niggles you are in for a serious treat. This truly is a phone that will make your mates go WOW! Its design is stunning, it's super powerful, lovely to use and is now tougher than ever.If your numbers come up on the Lotto this weekend and you fancy a phone that's bigger and better, you really can't go wrong with the Galaxy Z Fold7. It may have taken seven attempts, but Samsung has finally nailed it.

That said, the device is promising. 86% Review: The incredibly thin Galaxy Z Fold 7 is my favorite Samsung foldable yet
Source: Mashable English EN→zh-CN
Battery quibbles aside, this is a really good foldable phone. I think if you can make the price work for you (via trade-in or otherwise) and you think the form factor would benefit you in any way, you might have found your next phone. Galaxy Z Fold 7 is my favorite Samsung foldable yet almost entirely on the back of its extreme thinness and solid performance. Its software features aren’t really anything to write home about, but we live in the age of diminishing returns, so that’s to be expected at this point. It wins in enough other areas that this could be a nice everyday device for years to come, assuming there aren’t any long-term technical problems that wouldn’t show up in a launch window review.

100% Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 review: the new standard for foldable phones
Source: The Shortcut English EN→zh-CN
Even if ‘Ultra’ isn’t in the name, Samsung didn’t hold back this year. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 sets the new standard for foldable phones. It’s one of the most fun smartphones I’ve tested, and Google is going to have a hard time beating this one next month. Samsung addressed our feedback in last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 review, crafting a phone with an ultra-thin design, wider screens, a flagship-level 200MP camera, and fast performance. It finally packs in the fundamentals of a top-tier smartphone without too many sacrifices. The Z Fold 7 design nails the dimensions we wanted: an 8-inch tablet-like screen, a 6.5-inch Cover Screen, and a folded size that’s somehow thinner than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It feels extra durable thanks to a stronger hinge and thicker glass, and there’s less of an unsightly crease.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 review: Big displays, compact body, smarter UI
Source: Business Standard English EN→zh-CN
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 advances the foldable smartphone category with meaningful upgrades that go beyond superficial refinements. With a starting price of Rs 174,999, it remains a premium offering, but its combination of a thin-and-lightweight design, enhanced camera system, foldable-optimised software experience, and industry-leading AI capabilities justify the investment for users seeking both innovation and utility. The device excels in key areas: its broader cover display brings usability closer to conventional smartphones, the inner foldable screen offers a tablet-like experience tailored for productivity, and the refined One UI 8, based on Android 16, supports enhanced multitasking and one-handed operation. Imaging performance, particularly through the main camera, is reliable and consistent, with support for high-quality video capture across all sensors.

85% I Tested the Galaxy Z Fold 7: It's Slim, Powerful and Surprisingly Practical
Source: CNet English EN→zh-CN
Samsung has achieved quite a feat with the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Yes, it's a spectacularly thin phone, but an even greater accomplishment is that using both the cover and main display on this book-style foldable finally feels like an almost perfect experience. Almost. I spent a week scrolling, snapping photos and texting on Samsung's new premium foldable, and it really was a "feeling is believing" experience. Because the Z Fold 7 is only 8.9mm thick when closed and 4.2mm when open, it's not clunky in either configuration. (For comparison, last year's Z Fold 6 was 12.1mm thick when closed and 5.6mm when open. That makes the new foldable phone just a bit thicker than the 7.2mm Galaxy S25 when closed.) The generous 6.5-inch cover screen means I hardly feel the need to pry the phone open and use the more sprawling internal display – even though that's kind of the whole point. And snapping photos on this foldable doesn't feel like a compromise, thanks to an impressive triple camera system that includes a 200-megapixel sensor.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 feels like the holy grail of foldable phones. It’s super thin and light, so it feels like a regular phone in your pocket. And yet, the new Fold packs a bigger 8-inch display when opened. Samsung also upgraded the camera system, including a 200MP main shooter and an ultrawide camera that takes much better macros. And having Gemini Live always at the ready is a game changer. The $2,000 price is super expensive — and Samsung ditched the S Pen — but overall this is the best foldable money can’t buy.

Samsung is back in the game with this year's foldable. Sure, there are still some missteps, such as the battery life, charging rate, the omission of the S Pen, the lackluster telephoto camera, and the absence of Dolby Vision support, if anyone cares. However, the Z Fold7 excels in other areas, providing a much better main camera, nice ultrawide, better internal selfie cam, larger displays with better aspect ratios and offers one of the thinnest and lightest designs in the segment. These upgrades alone make the Z Fold7 much easier to recommend than its predecessors. Moreover, the handset is entitled to 7 major OS upgrades while launching with Android 16 out of the box. It looks like Samsung has performed better under pressure from the rising competition in the last few years. The Galaxy Z Fold7 proves that the Korean tech giant still has it.

Source: Engadget English EN→zh-CN
I've always said that Samsung is at its best when it focuses on hardware design, and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 may be one of the best examples of that. With its latest flagship foldable, Samsung has removed one of the remaining barriers preventing people from trying out the new breed of phones: excessive size and weight. By widening its cover display, the Z Fold 7 looks and acts just like a regular smartphone, which is great for checking messages, looking up directions or snapping a photo. When you want to get really immersed in a show, movie or game, you can open up that beautiful flexible display, which is now even larger for your viewing pleasure. The phone’s higher-res main camera also brings upgraded image quality while its Snapdragon 8 Elite chip gives it a performance edge over rivals like the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

I’ve always believed in the benefits of a phone that unfolds into a tablet. It’s just the thickness and weight, and other concerns like durability and unavailability in the U.S., that have always stopped me from putting my money where my mouth is. The Z Fold 7 is more expensive than before, and $2,000 is a lot of money for a phone (the cost for repairs isn’t cheap either), but I’m obsessed with it, and thank god there are installment plans that break up the cost into monthly payments. I know my iPad mini, with iPadOS 26’s Liquid Glass developer beta installed, is missing me, but I just don’t care. 100% A week with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 convinced me this is the new foldable to beat
Source: Stuff TV English EN→zh-CN
Samsung knows better than most how hard engineering phones can be. Remember the explosive Galaxy Note 7? Part of the challenge is knowing what to leave out, and cutting a few features has arguably turned the Z Fold 7 into the best of the current foldable breed. Sure, the lack of stylus support might sting a little for the small minority that used an S Pen on older Folds. And battery is becoming a bit of a lead weight for Samsung phones in general. But the Z Fold 7’s svelte form, expansive screens and capable rear cameras otherwise bring it up to par. Feature-packed software and swift performance then make it very easy to live with indeed. Book-style foldables are still niche – the high price puts them out of reach for many – but the Galaxy Z Fold 7 just made them that little bit more mainstream.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 battery life test: it’s thin in more ways than one
Source: The Shortcut English EN→zh-CN
I’ve spent nearly a week testing Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold 7, and one of the biggest questions I have about it is battery life. This $1,999 phone is one of the most expensive you can get in North America, competing with the likes of other flagship smartphones like the iPhone 16 Pro Max, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Samsung’s own Galaxy S25 Ultra. All of these phones have proven they can last all day on a charge - even Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold can. My question was whether the Z Fold 7 could keep up. After all, it comes with a 4,400mAh cell to power two large displays, a fast processor, and keep itself cool at the same time in a thin-and-light form factor. Seems impossible, right? Well, it’s kind of possible. While you can stretch it to get through a full day, that’s not always the case.

100% Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 review: 5-star foldable earns Samsung a new crown

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is far more than an iterative update, it's Samsung's arrival at the top of the folding phone game. The new proportions and slim design are a skilful balance that feels just right, while the main camera's upgrade can deliver S25 Ultra-beating results. There's no S Pen stylus support, which may be unforgivable for some upgraders, and the new design means hardened gamers might be left asking for more. For everyone else, however, this Galaxy is a flagship with the benefits of a foldable design – and little compromise.

I’ve been skeptical about the quality of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 camera system since it first leaked, but after spending a little over a day with the phone, I can say that you can leave your worries at the door – this is a good camera. Samsung’s newest large-format folding smartphone, which launches on July 25, has the most versatile and power camera setup of any Galaxy Z device to date. The company aims to provide its foldable smartphone with an experience reminiscent of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, complete with a range of high-end features, including fast performance, a slim design, larger screens, and strong cameras. The Fold 7’s cameras are one of the most interesting areas of the device. Samsung swapped the old main camera on the Z Fold 6 for a new 200MP lens, the same one that’s in the S25 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Edge.

The new model will serve as the entry point to the Galaxy foldable portfolio. Well, I didn't get any hands-on time with the FE, but it looks a lot like last year's Flip 6. We'll have more to say about that when we spend more time with the new FE model. One big news from Samsung dropped is that both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are the first devices globally to launch with Android 16 out of the box. Of course, there's One UI 8 running on the top. Samsung has impressed me with the Z Fold 7, and while the price went up in the U.S., it’s a bit more affordable in Canada at $2,499. It’s still hard to recommend a smartphone that costs so much, but if there’s any phone worth this price tag, this might be it. Also, in Canada, the device is $50 cheaper than its predecessor, which is definitely a plus. There’s a lot I need to try out, such as the battery, the cameras, the processor, and more. However, with a thinner frame and wider body, I’m looking forward to reviewing the Z Fold 7.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 hands-on: Samsung finally made the foldables we’ve been asking for

The file folder screen lives on in a new member of the Flip lineup: the Z Flip 7 FE. It’s a lower-cost alternative to the $1,099 Z Flip 7 at… $899, which, sure, is less money. But it doesn’t feel cheap, and with a $699 alternative from Motorola, the FE feels a little forgettable. Here’s what I’m not forgetting anytime soon: picking up the Z Fold 7 for the first time. It was the same realization I had with the second-gen Pixel Fold: the “oh, this is how this phone is supposed to feel” moment. I just wish that “aha” moment came with a slightly lower price tag.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 hands-on review: The real slim shady
Source: Expert Reviews English EN→zh-CN
This is a pretty significant update for Samsung’s flagship folding phone and from what I’ve seen already I can tell our reviewer is going to absolutely love it. It’s the thinnest Fold yet and somehow Samsung has managed to keep build quality high while squeezing in some pretty enticing upgrades. Alas, Samsung is keeping the price ludicrously high, so this will remain a phone for the few, which is a shame. The base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is still £1,799, with 12GB and 512GB it rises to £1,899 and the top-end phone with 16GB and 1TB of storage is £2,149. But, perhaps, now that the manufacturing processes behind these exotic handsets has fully matured, and on this evidence it certainly seems as if it has, the next few years will see that price steadily come down. Here’s hoping.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 hands-on: Slim folding
Source: Canbuyornot English EN→zh-CN
Having created the current foldables market, Samsung has spent the last few iterations playing catchup as Chinese manufacturers started to out-design the Korean giant with slimmer models and even a tri-folding screen. But with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, Samsung is finally ready to show who's the king. The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a stunner. At 8.9mm thick, it's on par with the the Oppo Find N5, and just slightly thicker than the just-announced Honor Magic V5 (8.88mm thick). Honestly, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is approaching the limits of how thin it can be, due to how phones have to accommodate the USB-C port. Of course, they can always skip the port entirely, and just go with wireless charging, but that's an altogether different story for another time.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 hands-on review
Source: GSM Arena English EN→zh-CN
The difference between the Z Flip6 and Z Flip7 FE is the chipset - the new phone swaps the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for an Exynos 2400, which is more of a side-grade rather than an upgrade, on paper at least.

We saw Samsung’s new foldable phones at Unpacked, and we’re seriously impressed
Source: CNN underscored English EN→zh-CN
The thinner bezels on the Z Flip 7 are a great touch to make it look more like a premium phone, but the Z Fold 7’s slimmer design is the big news here. Making the pricey Z Fold 7 look and feel more worthy of its premium price is great, especially when you open it up to see that practically squarish 8-inch display. Combine both those devices with the more-affordable Z Flip 7 FE and the Galaxy Watch 8 models, and it’s not hard to see Samsung’s July Unpacked as a winning event this year. We look forward to seeing how well these devices hold up to their strong first impression during our full reviews, so stay tuned.

An Exciting Hands-On: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7, Flip7, Flip7 FE & Watch8 Debut
Source: Hot Hardware English EN→zh-CN
When it comes to folding phones, Samsung is definitely back. The Galaxy Z Fold7 finally stands up to the Chinese competition in terms of design, and the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Flip6 FE are going after Motorola’s Razr lineup. With these new folding phones, Samsung’s broad ecosystem and feature-rich software are no longer held back by so-so hardware. Add Samsung’s powerful marketing and sales channels to the mix, and it’s a recipe for success. The Watch8 and Watch8 Classic are exactly what you’d expect from Samsung: a solid update to existing products. Gemini is an exciting new feature, and the return of the rotating watch bezel is a welcome touch. The Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, Watch 8, and Watch 8 Classic are available for pre-order today (July 9) from Samsung, the carriers, and retailers like Amazon and Best Buy, with open sales beginning on July 25. Availability for the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is still TBD. Stay tuned for more coverage about these devices in the coming weeks, including our Galaxy Z Fold7 review.
