I honestly think that, besides the palm rejection and screen brightness issue, the Realme 10 Pro+ is a great phone for its price. It isn't top-notch at anything, but it's more than good enough for most customers. And, to add some sparkle, it's a beauty (in the Hyperspace colorway, that is). What worries me is that the remaining issues aren't that hard to fix. The ghost touches happen with 2.5D or curved screens, and the excessive dimming is present on no less than five different BBK devices (from OnePlus, Oppo, and Realme) I used in the past few years, almost surely with different ambient light sensors. So, why isn't the company making some effort to get this kind of thing sorted out? When I get my hands on the 11 Pro+, I'll try to find out.

Apologies if I sound like an advertisement here, but I am fairly impressed with how far smartphones at this price point have generally improved over generations of just wanting the next big flagship device from the whichever big manufacturer for two to four times as much. Now that chipset downgrade may discourage some power users interested in this device locally, and may even take away its flagship-level status but when it comes to real-world use, honestly that really didn’t matter to me.

In my opinion, the Realme 10 Pro+ has outdone the other mid-range phones in the Realme series. The design is the most attractive thing about the device. It is the first phone in the mid-range segment to offer a curved display, and its symmetrical bezels put some of the top-end phones to shame. However, the bloatware continues to disappoint and I believe it's about time that Realme focuses on a stock Android future. The cameras perform well in daylight, but the absence of OIS is a letdown. Realme could have included a 3.5mm jack, but considering the Bluetooth TWS market is brimming with choices, the absence of it will not affect the typical buyer. Overall, the Realme 10 Pro+ is an all-rounder at under Rs 25,000 and gives a tough fight to the competitor devices from Redmi, Samsung, and others. It scores big in terms of style and its performance does not disappoint either.

I want to give you a reason to buy the Realme 10 Pro+, but I’m not sure I can. It’s a solidly built, (mostly) attractive, and capably performing smartphone with a battery that lasts for a couple of days. That makes it a good smartphone, and on the surface, a good purchase too. I really don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you buy it either; I’ve certainly not been desperate to stop using the phone, or found problems that make me want to throw it out the window. The issue is it doesn’t do anything new and alluring. Realme pushes the screen’s special 2160Hz PWM Dimming mode as one of its standout features, but it’s not really something I’ve noticed working during my use. I came from the Pixel 7 Pro and Galaxy Z Fold 4, neither of which have the same dimming technology, but I couldn’t have told you the Realme phone had it. Its presence is likely beneficial, but the lack of water resistance and wireless charging, as well as the inconsistent camera, are far more impactful to everyday use. I like the Realme 10 Pro+, but the competition around it is considerably more appealing, and I don’t think Realme has struck quite the right balance between genuinely helpful features and cost. If the 8MP wide-angle camera is the best it can do, I’d rather see that and the macro camera disappear, potentially making room for water resistance and wireless charging on the budget sheet. It’s decisions like this that would make the Realme 10 Pro+ stand out, as at the moment, when you take away the sparkly rear panel, it’s all a bit ordinary.

The new update also comes with Realme's Dynamic Computing Engine, which claims to offer the perfect balance between high performance and low power consumption. We will be testing the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G and the Realme 10 Pro 5G thoroughly to see if the devices do justice to their respective price tags and the claims made by the company.
