Tecra A50系列像是更贵的Portege系列的衍生品。为了降低售价，东芝减弱了它的很多特性包括较弱的屏幕上盖，较差的屏幕，缺少键盘背光和对SIM卡的支持。核心的商务功能如Smart Card和指纹识别器现在也变成了可选项。我们无法评判它的1080p机型，不过我们所测试的768p机型屏幕在色彩质量，对比度和亮度上都低于平均水平。
如果你执着于东芝产品，那么它可能是替代Portege系列的实惠型笔记本电脑。在品质和耐用性上它会给人很不同的感觉。不过，新Tecra A50-C的三年标准保修期也不容忽视。我们建议选择1080p的屏幕面板和固态硬盘以提高它对于基本办公应用的效率。否则，更贵的商务解决方案如旗舰级的ThinkPad，Latitude，Portege或EliteBook可能对于需求较高的用户来说是更加着眼长远的选择。
由于缺少核心的商务功能，它的低配版本并不值得选择。拓展坞接口，三年质保，使用电池时稳定的性能和接近宁静的运行都是Tecra A50-C的亮点所在。
