Reviews for the OnePlus 9R

80% OnePlus 9R review: OnePlus 8T, take two
Source: Android Authority English EN→zh-CN
The OnePlus 9R marks a return to value flagships for the company, but it's got a lot of competition. The specs sheet is solid, but the lack of any stand-out features leaves little to get excited about, and the camera performance is still sub-standard. All in all, the OnePlus 9R is a utilitarian entryway into the OnePlus ecosystem and an enticing alternative to the vanilla OnePlus 9, but there are stronger options from rival brands.

After the performance throttling saga and the embarrassing takedown from Geekbench, user trust in OnePlus has taken a big hit. The potential change to device performance isn’t as troubling as how the company handled the whole situation. In the case of the 9R, I can confirm that you aren’t likely to notice any performance dip unless you compare some benchmark numbers as we did. I know it isn’t ideal and we have figured this into our device score. The people who should definitely avoid the 9R are camera fanatics. Its cameras are fine for more casual and occasional use but won't impress more serious photographers. If you fall into that group, you’d be better served with a slightly pricier Samsung Galaxy S20 FE or maybe the OnePlus 9. Other than the camera, the 9R doesn’t have any major issues that may keep you from picking one up.

If you don’t mind the performance cap, then sure. The OnePlus 9R is one of those phones that tries to get a lot of things right without acing any of them, and that's the closest you can get to a flagship killer from OnePlus in 2021. It's the cheapest way to get into OnePlus’s ecosystem without compromising the performance front with a Nord. At just under ₹40,000, the 9R certainly isn’t the cheapest phone to house a Snapdragon 870 — there are plenty of options from Xiaomi and others that can save you at least a few thousand rupees — but what a OnePlus phone gets you is a cleaner OS along with the associated brand value. The potential change to device performance isn’t as troubling as how the company handled the whole situation. In the case of the 9R, I can confirm that you aren’t likely to notice any performance dip unless you compare some benchmark numbers as we did. 80% Oneplus 9R Review: Rebadged Oneplus 8T Offers Better Value For Money Than Oneplus 9
Source: Tech2.in.com English EN→zh-CN
The OnePlus 9R sells in India at Rs 39,999 for the 8 GB RAM / 128 GB storage variant and Rs 43,999 for its 12 GB RAM variant with 256 GB storage. Is it worth buying? We have sufficiently established this is pretty much a renamed OnePlus 8T with a slightly faster SoC. As long as the OnePlus 8T is still available at a lower price, it makes little sense to buy the 9R, unless you love the Lake Blue shade or need a bit of extra muscle. I would like to assume the company will soon clear 8T stocks and afford the 9R some breathing space. Nevertheless, I strongly feel OnePlus should have bolstered the 9R with some meaningful differentiators rather than making it look like a marketing ploy to use up surplus OnePlus 8T hardware with a 9 series stamp.

The OnePlus 9R was released alongside the OnePlus 9 Pro and the OnePlus 9. At Rs 39,999, the OnePlus 9R faces a lot of competition from the likes of the Mi 11X Pro and the iQOO 7. Here's our OnePlus 9R review.

The OnePlus 9R is the cheapest of the company’s range of flagships for the season, but it comes at a time when the competition is at its finest form. You still get staples such as a clean software experience, fast charging, a great display and decent performance — but it’s far from the best in its segment.

Unless you want the top-of-the-line specs and features and want a OnePlus phone only then this isn’t a phone for you. But if you want a good-looking phone that checks all the essential boxes and there’s a lot to like about it. A snappy display that complements the design and performance that won’t let you down. Add in a camera that is more than competent enough along with a powerful battery -- it’s almost a complete package at this price.

OnePlus 9R Review: Another Little Flagship For Very Reasonable
Source: Igeekphone English EN→zh-CN
In other respects, the OnePlus 9R has the blessing of 65W wired fast charging, and the 4500 mAh battery can recover from 1% to 100% within 35 minutes. The configuration of the Snapdragon 870 platform + UFS 3.0 flash memory defends the basic performance of OnePlus. Plate. The imaging system is still the orthodox flagship style of OnePlus-the emphasis on experience is far greater than the parameters of piling up paper. The IMX586 has been polished out in the hands of OnePlus to produce even better results than in the past. The software algorithm is still the competitiveness of OnePlus.

80% OnePlus 9R Review: A Minor Refresh With a New Coat of Paint
Source: NDTV Gadgets English EN→zh-CN
The OnePlus 9R is a very slightly warmed-over OnePlus 8T, and a bigger price reduction would have made it a lot more interesting than it is. It looks slick and modern, and it's easy enough to handle. Performance is great whether you're gaming or just getting your daily tasks done. OxygenOS continues to work smoothly and the overall usage experience is very good. The cameras are what you'd expect for this price level, battery life is good, and charging is quick.

80% OnePlus 9R review: The new value for money king
Source: India Today English EN→zh-CN
At a starting price of Rs 39,999, the OnePlus 9R is one of the most aggressively priced smartphones from OnePlus in recent years. It offers a premium-looking design, good performance, decent cameras, and a battery that should impress. Bonus points for some gaming-centric features that make it appealing to some extent for people who love to play games on their primary device.

80% OnePlus 9R detailed review: Another (affordable) OnePlus phone
Source: The Indian Express English EN→zh-CN
Yes, but this is not an easy question to answer. One thing I can say is that to me it makes more sense than getting the OnePlus 9, if you are willing to sacrifice on not having the best processor out there and the Hasselblad magic on the camera. The OnePlus 9R is quite capable in performance and has a decent camera without this. Now, the OnePlus 9R is good at everything, but not really above the competition on most of the features. It is at par with what a Samsung or an Oppo will offer at this price range. That said, OnePlus offers you the dependability of a premium brand along with the brownie points of having a phone that is in the top shelf segment. If there is a premium here, it is for that.

Source: Think Digit English EN→zh-CN
Starting at Rs 39,999, the OnePlus 9R is the new entry-level flagship from the company that looks to take the battle to the crucial sub Rs 40k segment of the market. And, it does so really well. The phone has plenty to like about it, including its fast 120Hz display, the above par cameras and also its premium design language. The only real issue that a OnePlus fan could have with the device is the presence of the Snapdragon 870 SoC -- instead of the flagship Snapdragon 888. Other than that, there's no reason to not consider the OnePlus 9R if you're looking for a new phone in this budget segment.

80% OnePlus 9R review: R is for recycling old ideas

The OnePlus 9R takes the chassis from the 8T and adds a new camera housing at the back. You're getting the exact same hardware here, including a vivid 120Hz AMOLED display, top-notch hardware, 65W fast charging, reliable cameras, and a bloat-free interface. If you're in the market for a new value flagship and don't mind the limited 5G, this is the one to get.

OnePlus 9R First Impressions: Does 'Never Settle' Still Hold True?
Source: NDTV Gadgets English EN→zh-CN
In terms of pricing, OnePlus has likely found a balance that many fans of the brand will be willing to pay for. It's interesting that the OnePlus 8T remains on sale for now at Rs. 3,000 more for the same variants. There are some other interesting options around such as the new Vivo X60 series, Oppo Reno 5 series, Mi 10T series, and some of Samsung's older S-series models. The OnePlus 9R's value will depend on its performance, camera quality, software, and ease of use, which we will dive into in great detail in our full review, so stay tuned to Gadgets 360.

OnePlus 9R hands-on review
Source: GSM Arena English EN→zh-CN
Of course, OnePlus still holds an advantage in terms of the software experience over its rivals. It's something that one can only experience first-hand and not something that can be quantified on a spec sheet. However, the company has continued to push the limits of what the users might find annoying in terms of promotional content by masquerading it as value-added services. The whole host of features that were added over the course of a couple of years also tend to be quite nagging and attention-hungry. These may seem like small things, especially if you are coming from other manufacturers but when your entire brand is built on a reputation for clean and distraction-free software, it will always be the little thing that breaks the camel's back.

80% OnePlus 9R review: back to the flagship killer roots
Source: 91mobiles English EN→zh-CN
The OnePlus 9R is able to deliver on most aspects. For Rs 39,990, there are very few phones that can bring in a clean software experience, fast flagship-grade performance, respectable cameras, and an overall polished design. There is no denying that the OnePlus 9R provides a wholesome experience, in that the user will not feel the need for additional features. You get what you pay for. I think that currently, only the Vivo X60 can trade blows with the OnePlus 9R as a competitive affordable flagship. Both phones have near-identical displays and pack in about the same battery, while being powered by the same Snapdragon 870 chipset. The X60 has, hands down, the better design with its extremely sleek looks and light in-hand feel. One could also argue that the phone also has better cameras thanks to the Zeiss partnership although the jury is still out on that.
