Lenovo Legion Y520 is a very good entry level gaming laptop that comes with cooling system and it does keep the hardware heat build up under control. Now you can go with Intel Core i5 that does not come with SSD drive and you get a 1TB drive only with 8GB RAM. This is also good for gaming but you will get better experience with Intel Core i7 processor that comes with 128GB SSD where the OS is loaded and it boots up instantly, plus there is 16GB RAM and 1TB HDD.

Lenovo has put forward a strong effort, but we like the insides of the Legion Y520 a lot more than its outsides. Styling is a subjective matter, but we can't help but wish that Lenovo hadn't gone quite so literal chasing after the "gamer" cred. The flimsy lid is a huge cause for concern, and the trackpad is an ergonomic misstep. We'd also like to see Lenovo ease up on the bloatware.

To be clear, the Lenovo Legion Y520 at $799 is also a good investment. The model’s missing camera and backlit keyboard don’t ruin its performance or its decent screen, two things gamers care the most about. Yes, the battery life isn’t impressive, but this is a gaming PC first and a productivity machine second. The trackpad is terrible. Get a mouse and enjoy your games for a reasonable amount of cash.

The Legion Y520 is dressed to impress just about everywhere else. We weren’t fans of its number-pad layout, and its cooling fans tended to behave erratically at times. Otherwise, it included almost everything we look for in a budget gaming notebook. The $1,249 configuration we reviewed included high-end extras, such as a 256GB PCI Express-bus SSD, and a large 2TB hard drive. If you stick with the value offered by the base model, though, the Legion Y520 is the budget gaming notebook to beat.
