Reviews for the LG Q6
Trimmed. The looks of the LG Q6 closely resemble those of the LG G6, only at a much lower price point. The trade-off is its trimmed performance, a performance that makes the phone struggle hard in its price range. We will find out whether the phone is a recommendable purchase.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionThe LG Q6 offers generally solid performance in a sleek and durable form factor for a reasonable price, whether you buy it using Amazon Prime or not. And it's even more alluring with the loss of loss of Huawei and ZTE in the US, two very strong players in the unlocked market.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionThe Q6 impresses with its screen, bearing an aspect ratio that still isn't common under €300, and small bezels which make it very easy to use with one hand. It banks on looks that are similar to the flagship G6, at least on one side, and will be the perfect choice for someone who prioritizes that above all.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionUnofficially titled the “LG G6 mini”, the Q6 is an impressive midrange phone on its own. While it lacks certain flagship features and annoyingly, a fingerprint sensor, the FullVision display and rear-facing camera are stand-out inclusions that you probably won’t find elsewhere for this cheap.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionThe LG Q6 is a beautiful device and looks like a modern day flagship, but it doesn't feel like one. During my time with the phone, I was constantly reminded that I was using a mid-range device with its lack of notification light and fingerprint sensor, its over-sharpening camera, its mediocre battery and easily scratchable plastic finish.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionLet’s face it, most people do not WANT to buy a $349 phone but do it out of necessity. Not everyone can afford the $1000-$1500 required for a flagship in 2017 and thus there needs to be options for consumers at all price points. With the Q6 LG are trying to bring as many of their flagship features to their, well they say mid-range but I will call $349 low-range, devices.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionWhen we took a closer look at the Q6 in late August, we pondered whether this mid-range device could in fact serve as a G6 mini of sorts. Following our time reviewing the Q6, it sadly is not the case. While the specifications of the Q6 will stand you in good stead for now, we don't think it will be the case one year down the line, particularly when more powerful mid-range phones are on offer.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionIf you are more interested in technical specs, then the Samsung J7 seems like a worthy choice, because on the paper, it does look more powerful – but also bigger and heavier. Note that the J7 has only 16GB of storage, so you may want to look at micro-SD cards. Finally, if you want less pre-loaded apps, and a leaner interface maybe the Nokia 6 would be a fine choice.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionThe new LG Q6 fits perfectly into the pocket of mid-range buyers at Rs 15,999. It clearly justifies the price tag with the kind of specifications it has to offer. The device lags on multitasking, wish they could have added some more RAM in a phone for better performance in multitasking! For people on a budget, this is the closest they could get to getting flagship look-alike at very affordable price.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionThe LG Q6 is a great mid range smartphone. I’ve always loved the LG offerings (other than the modular thing they did) and think they make practical phones that do the job and look the part. Plus, one handed texting friends, I’ve missed this!

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionThe LG Q6, for all intents and purposes, can be considered as a mini G6. The mid-level Q6 looks every bit as futuristic as LG's flagship G6. It feel as good, if not better, and is built from scratch to take a beating (although that plastic back is susceptible to scratches) something that not a lot of phones at around Rs 15,000 can really brag about. Its 18:9 Full Vision display, meanwhile, adds a third dimension to the Q6, much like the G6. LG has even gone on and added the same set of software gimmicks to it, to make that unusual aspect ratio count, as the flagship G6. Unlike the G6, however, the Q6 costs just Rs 14,990.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionIn the end, the Q6 is beauty that is skin deep, which is a shame because we really wanted it to be good. If LG were to make a version with more power under the hood, we would love to give it another shot.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionWe cannot recommend the LG Q6, however. The lack of a fingerprint reader, unimpressive cameras, and other minor issues just make it tough to justify over competing options. Unless you really want a near bezel-less display for a cheap price, you will probably be happier with something else.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionBased on our analysis, the LG Q6 has several factors that work in its favour and some that don't. It has a beautiful display with wide 18:9 aspect ratio which we've seen with the flagship LG G6. The body is compact and light-weight while the battery is one of the most appealing corners in the device. The camera too works flawlessly across the board.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionThe highlight of the LG Q6 is the display and the design. But as I said the specifications, including the Qualcomm 435 processor, battery life, make this appear to be a more expensive proposition for most people. If you want a more compact phone with a unique display, then the LG Q6 is an option to consider. However, those looking for a blazing performance or a great camera at this budget should probably examine options in the market.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionTo sum up, the LG Q6 comes with a surprisingly compact form factor and the FullVision display does almost do a decent job. However, other than this, the overall performance of the smartphone is not matchable with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Moto G5 Plus, Honor 6X and more, as each of one of them comes loaded with better hardware arsenal and have proved their mettle in the market.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionThere are no second thoughts about the fact that the LG Q6 is one very good looking device. But priced at Rs. 14,999, it faces some tough competition from the likes of Xiaomi, Moto, Lenovo, Huawei, and even Samsung. Apart from the 18:9 screen ratio, there is nothing particularly outstanding in the device. The camera is decent, the battery is average, and the overall performance is not that great. You get a similarly specced device (minus that display but plus a larger battery), the Xiaomi Redmi 4 under Rs. 10,000, and if we move into the Q6’s price range, then the likes of the Lenovo K8 Note, the Redmi Note 4, the Honor 6X and the Moto G5 Plus start making their presence felt, more than matching it in all departments other than that display. The Q6 definitely looks future proof, but its performance and price hark more to a period of the past.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionOverall, LG Q6 is an above average device packing nothing special in it if not for FullVision display. With Q6, LG has tried too hard to make a dent in the mid-range market but failed. At a price of Rs. 14,990, the LG Q6 lacks fingerprint, has a scratch prone plastic back and average camera. Unless and until, if you don’t mind spending Rs. 15,000 for a phone with a large screen in a compact size, you can go for LG Q6. If not, you have lots of options including, Moto G5 Plus, Honor 6X, Lenovo P2 and more.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionThe 18:9 screen aspect ratio is sure to become popular in the smartphone world, and the LG Q6 looks futuristic despite its value pricing, which could be a major selling point. Even a few of years down the line, the Q6 should still look modern. It isn't the most powerful smartphone in its class so if brute force is what you’re looking for, then you’d be better served by the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (Review), Honor 6X (Review) or even the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime (Review).

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionIt has Bluetooth 4.2 (no mention of NFC), and 802.11b/g/n WiFi, 2.4GHz only. It supports WiFi direct and can provide a WiFi hotspot. The phone supports the common 4G bands. No mention is made of super high performance LTE specs, so I guess it’s pretty much standard on that front. The socket at the bottom of the phone is Micro-B USB.

EN→zh-CN Archive.org versionAt its price of €200 in India and at the lower prices in the UK and Australia, we can easily overlook the phone’s flaws (well, it’s hard to forgive the lack of a fingerprint scanner…) and blame it all on the cost, but at the €350 full retail price in Europe, there are far better options out there.
