Reviews for the Google Pixel 2 XL

Google Pixel 2 XL Smartphone Preview | Notebookcheck
First impressions. The Pixel 2 XL is visually a high-end smartphone of the year 2017 and has a POLED display in the 2:1 format. Visually, the relation to the LG V30 cannot be denied, but it took a different path in terms of the camera. In addition, there is quite a lot of battery power.
80% Google Pixel 2 XL review: Only for the pure of Android
Source: Hardware Zone English EN→zh-CN
All things considered, the Pixel 2 XL probably isn't the phone for everyone. Pure Android fans will love being the first to get updates, security patches, and new features like Google Lens, but with so many other flagship smartphones out there, and with most Android manufacturers now offering a UI experience that's fairly close to stock Android anyway (yes, even Samsung), you may be better off choosing a phone without so many caveats. If you really have to have a Pixel smartphone, I would actually consider importing the smaller Pixel 2 instead. While it has a more conventional design, it does have a Full HD AMOLED display, which doesn't have the same issues plaguing the Pixel 2 XL's pOLED display.

Google Pixel 2 XL: Why It Has My Recommendation [Review]
Source: G Style Magazine English EN→zh-CN
You know I’ve been fortunate and my review unit hasn’t had the host of issues that some other reviewers have experienced and I know a few other reviewers as well who are just fine with their Pixel 2 XLs. I will say out of the most recent issues reported I have experienced the weird Google Assistant not recording what you say via Bluetooth headphones or car. It is a weird thing that doesn’t work when I activate by squeeze but works sometime fine when I use the trigger word Ok Google. Other than this I’ve been fine.

Google Pixel 2 XL was an answer to Apple’s iPhone X and iPhone 8 Plus, and Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Note 8. Unfortunately, Google Pixel 2 XL does not feel like a device that has delivered on the promise of being a dream phone for Android fans thanks to some of the hardware issues. It appears to be incomplete and the spate of problems popping up daily show no signs of stopping.

The Pixel 2 XL feels one step away from being the undoubted Android champion. Had Google used a superior OLED display, the phone would have been an instant recommendation for basically anyone after a new handset. But with concerns over the display and a high price tag, explore your options before diving into the world of Pixel.

Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL Review: World's Smartest Phones

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL also benefit from faster performance than the Galaxy S8, stellar front and back cameras and long battery life. Overall, I prefer the sleeker designs and curved edge-to-edge displays on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, and the iPhone 8 Plus remains the king of camera phones. But if you want a pure Android experience, you'll love the $849 Pixel 2 XL. The Pixel 2's bezels are just way too big and it's screen too small for me to take this phone seriously, even for its relatively low $649.

Source: Gadget Diary English EN→zh-CN
Keeping all that aside, the Pixel 2 XL is one powerful Android smartphone. It has an excellent camera and powerful processor. The Pixel 2 XL price starts at Rs 73,000 for the 64GB model and 128GB model comes at Rs 82,000. At this price, the biggest competition it faces is from Apple iPhone 8 Plus. Those who are Android devotees might like to go for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 or the Galaxy S8. There's little to separate the Pixel 2 XL from competition - which isn't a surprise as it's always the case with most flagships. It will come down to why you want to buy a flagship. If the camera is the tilting factor, don't look further than the Google Pixel 2 XL.

Google struggled with hardware with its Nexus devices, but it is trying to change that with big strategic investments, in the hopes that it can one day go toe-to-toe with Apple and Samsung. With all the learnings from its first two Pixel generations, perhaps the Pixel 3 might be the perfect Android device everyone hopes for (you know, third time's the charm). But that’s in the future, and today we are dealing with a phone that costs Rs. 73,000 and has seen more issues within a few weeks of its release than most phones see in their entire lifecycles. Granted, many of these issues can be fixed with software patches, and we’re sure Google is working on them around the clock, but the experience needs to be at a certain level right from the beginning.

Away from pricing and overlooking the off-axis blue tint from the display, there’s an awful lot to like about the Pixel 2 XL – the design is perfect, it’s stylish, functional, has a super camera, good speakers, it absolutely deserves to be considered in the same breath as the Galaxy S8, Huawei Mate 10 Pro, and so on. Moreover it’s stock Android plus some Google goodness, and that’s always very welcome to see.

Google’s foray into the hardware market is still in its infant stage, but it’s becoming a more impressive journey with each passing year. The Pixel 2, or at least the Pixel 2 XL has at the very least a small cloud over it thanks to the screen used but it seems to be hit and miss as to whether it’s an issue at all. Google has systems in place, including a 15-day return option to mitigate these issues so you can order, and return the phone if it does turn out to be an issue.

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL deliver smartphone packages that are arguably the best in all of Android. The cameras here are so good, the designs are refreshingly unique enough in a sea full of competitors’ phones built entirely out of fragile glass, their performance is as good as it gets, and the software experience is a tastefully improved Google version of stock Android that you know will always be two steps ahead of everyone else when it comes to updates. You also get choice in size of phone without giving up anything and access to whatever new Google features are introduced over the coming years.

Some of the features I’m really enjoying is the front facing speakers, I loved those. I’m not sure why anyone would introduce that and then take it away. Glad to have it again. And the squeeze to launch Google Assistant is interesting. I’ve use it a couple of times but we’ll see how I feel about it after I’ve spent more time with the phone. And finally the camera. I’ve taken a few pictures (will show those in the full review), and so far I’m impressed. I’m not a big picture taker, but the ones I have taken especially with that portrait mode have looked really good!

Hands-on with the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL
Source: Hardware Zone English EN→zh-CN
Finally, the Pixel 2 phones run Android 8.0.0 Oreo, with its own Pixel Launcher to set it apart, UI-wise, from other Oreo handsets. The most obvious departure from last year’s Pixels is the removal of the “G” search pill on the new-look homescreen, which now has a full-width Google Search bar (rounded corners!) sandwiched between the dock of icons and navigation keys at the bottom. I’m ambivalent about this change, but for those who outright reject it, there’s always third-party launchers. As before, you can long-press the home button to summon Google Assistant, long-press the circular app icons to bring up shortcut items, swipe right to get to the Google app, and swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal the app drawer. And if you’re adamant about one-handed use, you can configure the phones to bring down the notification panel when you swipe down on the fingerprint scanner.

Pixel 2 and 2 XL review: Google's best phones get even better

Rather than build two identical Pixels this year, Google decided to make its new small smartphone a little more conservative. Make no mistake: the Pixel 2 is still an incredibly fast phone, and a clean build of Android 8.0 Oreo combined with Google's intelligent features make the device incredibly capable. And its camera? Just fantastic. Because of its more traditional design and smaller battery, though, the Pixel 2 doesn't make as strong an impression as the Pixel XL. Still, if you're looking for a first-rate Android phone that won't make your hands cramp, you'd do well to start your search here.

Google Pixel 2 XL hands-on review
Source: GSM Arena English EN→zh-CN
That maturity really matters, especially when the asking price is as steep as the Google Pixel 2 XL's is. Without a doubt, there is no shortage of smartphones that you can get for much less than $850. But we still have to put the Pixel 2 XL (and the Pixel 2) through our thorough review process before we can decide if you are getting your money's worth or if this it yet another device squarely aimed at die-hard fans and with limited appeal elsewhere.

90% Google Pixel 2 XL: the Pixel you want!
Source: T3 English EN→zh-CN
Both the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL show Google now has clear vision for its flagship smartphones. The design is distinctive and has character, the camera continues to be outstanding, and the software it very intelligent.

Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are here — Australian first-look
Source: Ausdroid English EN→zh-CN
While the XL is probably a bit large for some tastes, it’s definitely growing on Chris despite some initial trepidation when he realised just how large it was compared to his Galaxy S8. With a slim-fitting, stylish case, the picture would be complete. Google threw in a Live Case to try out, and we’re not a fan of them.

Google Pixel 2 XL hands-on
Source: Trusted Reviews English EN→zh-CN
The most significant thing to hold back the first Pixel XL was its bland design. Thankfully, with the Pixel 2 XL this is no longer the case. This is clearly the phone Google is hoping will go toe-to-toe with the iPhone X.

Google Pixel 2 XL
Source: PC Mag English EN→zh-CN
The Pixel 2 XL starts at $849 for the 64GB version, with the 128GB model going for $949, either unlocked or on Verizon. That's on par with the LG V30 and iPhone 8 Plus, and less expensive than the Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone X. It's available for pre-order now, with devices beginning to arrive on October 19. We'll take a closer look then in a full review.

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL First Impressions
Source: NDTV Gadgets English EN→zh-CN
This does mean that Google will be exploring the offline channel as well, which would partially explain the nearly Rs. 20,000 premium in India compared to the US pricing. Whether or not this will work out in Google's favour remains to be seen. The new phones look promising but we'll know for sure how they stand up against Apple and Samsung's top-end offerings only after we conduct our full review, which is coming up soon.

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL hands-on: great camera with a smarter assistant
Source: Mashable English EN→zh-CN
In fact, Google seems to have made a concerted effort to not just make its phones more competitive with Apple in every way that it counts, but to also showcase exactly why you should buy into their ecosystem. The phones are lightning fast, have the best camera Google has ever made, and make using Google Assistant way more intuitive.

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL hands-on – The Pixel line, refined
Source: Android Authority English EN→zh-CN
After much aplomb, Google’s new flagships are finally here and bring a ton of great features to the table. They’re not perfect, though. They are priced higher than most people would like, and the lack of headphone jack will certainly turn some people away.

It’s too early to come to any definitive conclusions about the Pixel 2 XL. We still need to run our full set of tests to find out how it performs, particularly for battery life and its cameras.

Hands-On With The New Google Pixel 2 XL Smartphone
Source: Android Headlines English EN→zh-CN
It is not that the fingerprint reader has moved or is positioned differently but instead it is no longer positioned underneath the glass panel. Which if nothing else does mean that users will be less likely to leave fingerprint marks on the glass when trying to use the fingerprint reader. Speaking of which, Google claims this is a new and redesigned fingerprint reader so you can expect even faster unlocking times and more accurate readings more often. Take a look at our full gallery of images below for a closer look at the Pixel 2 XL from all sides.

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL hands-on

Google acquired the HTC team that built the new Pixel 2 - let's see what the search giant bought for a billion dollars. Strangely enough, the smaller of the two devices hasn't changed much, but the larger Pixel 2 XL is much more in step with modern flagships.

Google Pixel 2/Pixel XL 2 Preview: All There Is To Know
Source: Android Headlines English EN→zh-CN
Although there is still probably a couple of months to go before Google officially introduces the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2, two months will probably go by quick and before you know it both devices will be here. It’s also worth mentioning that even though no information in this post is confirmed, much of the leaked detail that has popped up so far is what to look forward to, and more information is bound to surface leading up to the announcement.
