The MacBook Pro M1 is easily one of the best 13-inch laptops money can buy. You get blazing performance and epic battery life for your $1,299. And yet the speed gap between the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air with M1 is not that great.

This MacBook Air with M1 review has shown why its amazing endurance and shockingly good speed combine to take the MacBook Air to new heights. If only it packed a couple more ports and slimmed down its bezels, the new MacBook Air might be 5-star perfect.

The M1 MacBook Air is the fastest sub-$1,000 laptop by far, and it has the premium build quality and user experience to back up its performance. It has a remarkable 13-hour battery life, it’s silent, it runs faster than any other laptop in its range, it has a gorgeous Retina display, and it has a solid trackpad and keyboard.

The MacBook Air (M1) is a small revolution. As much power as you could need in a light and silent design, with giant battery life.

The MacBook Air is one of the most powerful lightweight laptops available right now, thanks to the Apple-designed M1 chipset. Expect a boost not only in performance but battery efficiency too, with very little trade-off.

So, if you are invested in the Apple ecosystem, and you currently own an iPhone, iPad, or other product from the same manufacturer, your life will be slightly easier. And whether you should raise your budget to get a MacBook Pro 13 (Late 2020) should be decided on your daily work routine. Yes, heavier (and longer) tasks will make use of the active cooling of the latter, but if your daily work consists of e-mailing, photo editing, and generally less-demanding load, the MacBook Air (Late 2020) is a device you shouldn’t miss.

It's difficult to recommend against the M1-based MacBook Air. Apple Silicon support still needs a little work, but rivals all have compromises versus the Air in terms of performance, price or portability.

All of which brings us to the question of whether you should leap in and buy this first-generation M1 hardware or wait for “M2”. There are reasons to wait, especially if you were hoping for a more radical redesign that takes advantage of reduced power demands and no fans. Note the lack of built-in 4G or 5G as well.

If you were looking to buy a new laptop for the new year and your budget is in the Rs 1,00,000 range then look no further. Also if you were planning to buy the MacBook Air, then only buy this version as it costs the same as the Intel version. If you are someone who needs high processing power throughout the day, you will still need the MacBook Pro as any fanless model will come with some limitations.

The M1 MacBook Air offers a significant improvement with better battery life and dramatically faster operation. There are still some areas for improvement though and stiff competition from the M1 MacBook Pro.

The Apple M1 SoC might be a first-gen product for Apple's laptops and desktops but it's very evident that this is the end result of years of perfecting the A-series SoC for its phones and tablets. Intel's CPUs in recent times haven't been terribly exciting, with only modest improvements in performance year on year. In a way, this has held the MacBook Air (and the rest of Apple's portfolio) back.

And though it isn't part of the machine's specs, it's always worth noting that Apple is one of very few companies you can buy from where you can go directly into a company's store for repairs, which is always welcome peace of mind.

The Apple Macbook Air 2020 MXK62LL/A is a bestselling 2020 laptop that received exceptional reviews for its large performance boost over previous models powered by Apples octa-core M1 CPUs, extremely long industry-leading battery life, comfortable Apple Magic Keyboard and extremely quiet performance thanks to a fanless design. It received some negative feedback for limited design changes compared to previous models, only two available ports, average webcam quality, and no touchscreen availability. Thanks to a host of improvements over previous years models, the Macbook Air 2020 MXK62LL/A has received outstanding reviews from users and critics alike, making it one of the best years yet to consider an upgrade.

“The forms which stand in closest competition with those undergoing modification and improvement will naturally suffer most,” Darwin wrote in The Origin of Species and, while I suspect he wasn’t talking about PC versus Mac, the sentiment is no less true today. We may only be at the beginning of the Apple Silicon transition, but even this base-spec M1 MacBook Air proves that Windows notebooks must recognize that natural selection here isn’t balanced in their favor.

The new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro come with two Thunderbolt 3 ports, that can be used to charge the devices, transfer data at high speeds and you can even use them to connect a 6K external monitor. The new devices now come with Wi-Fi 6, which is a major improvement over the older Intel-based MacBook devices. Wi-Fi 6 improves data transfer speeds, provides better performance in crowded areas like offices or malls, and it also helps to improve the battery life of the devices. Both devices also support Bluetooth 5.0 for connecting peripherals, and they also come with a 3.5mm auxiliary jack for headphones.

The M1 Air is a great laptop. Powerful performance. Long battery life. Completely silent and cool. It’s the distillation of what Apple does best — democratizing technology. Bringing tech to the masses. It’s a great computer for most people. As I was playing with the Air over the weekend, I wondered to myself, is this a classic? Could it be up there with the best Macs ever made? It certainly feels like an instant classic. Even my cat loves it.

Lisa Gade reviews both the late 2020 MacBook Air and 13” MacBook Pro with the new M1 Apple Silicon processors. These ARM-based CPUs offer tremendous performance, heat and battery life improvements, even when relying on Apple’s Rosetta 2 Intel emulation mode. Apple’s own programs are ARM-native as is the Big Sur operating system these laptops ship with. A growing list of 3rd party programs are going universal or native with M1 support. The casing and design for both machines is identical to their Intel predecessors. We compare the 2 laptops, look at compatibility issues, and compare them to Windows competitors and more powerful Mac laptops like the 16” MacBook Pro. And yes, they can run iOS and iPad apps, though that list is short and the experience is challenging without a touch screen.

The MacBook Air (M1, 2020) is easily one of the most exciting Apple laptops of recent years. Its M1 chip is a real game-changer, and the ability to run both legacy apps, new M1-optimized apps and iOS apps is very impressive. Battery life is also great, and performance is excellent as well.

If you’re in the market for a MacBook Air, you’ll be astounded by the performance and battery life on display here, and I think the vast majority of users need not worry about whether or not their favorite apps have been updated to support the M1 yet—Rosetta2 emulation works beautifully. If you’re waiting for the next big evolution of the Mac, this feels like only half the picture, the “inside” half, with the “outside” half hopefully on the way sooner rather than later.

For such a popular laptop -- I often call the MacBook Air the most universally useful laptop you can buy -- continuity of experience is incredibly important. That's true for Air users, who are usually looking for a sleek, reasonably priced machine that just works, as well as for those who use MacBook Pro laptops, the iMac, the Mac Mini or the Mac Pro for professional design, editing, photography or music work. Right now, only part of the Mac line is switching to Apple silicon. The rest, I'd expect to come sometime in the next year.

Apple’s new MacBook Air is its most refined ultraportable yet, mostly due to the new M1 system-on-a-chip. It’s incredibly fast and completely silent, since it has no fan. It’s the first step towards unifying Apple’s hardware and software on Macs, and just like the iPhone and iPad, the result is a sleek and polished experience.

At the same time that it launched the new MacBook Air with an M1 processor, Apple discontinued the Intel-based version of the Air. It was a bold move; the MacBook Air is Apple’s best-selling computer, and Apple also just made more money selling Macs last quarter than it ever had before. But it was the right decision. There is not a single reason I can find to want the old Intel version.

This year's MacBook Air fixes a lot of our complaints with previous models. It comes with new, more powerful, innards, a drastically improved keyboard and more storage space. However, the screen is a little muted and battery life is average. Still, if you're an Apple fan looking for an affordable MacBook, we can heartily recommend the new MacBook Air – something we've not been able to do with previous versions.

Apple announced their new Mac computers powered by their own, Apple-designed processors today. All of Apple's computers have used Intel processors for more than a decade, but the company is transitioning to "M1" chips, an 8-core CPU/GPU combo that is based on the chips found in their iPhones and iPads. Apple is claiming huge speed increases for their M1 Macs, which we'll need to try for ourselves.
