The POCO M7 Pro 5G is not a perfect phone but it’s a shockingly good one for the price. Truth be told, I don’t know that it earns any sort of “Pro” component in the moniker, but that’s maybe beside the point. If you’ve only got $250 to spend, this is one of the easiest phones to recommend. You’re getting a flagship-grade display, stellar battery life, a decent main camera, and enough performance for daily life. And the long-term software support makes it an even smarter pick. Awarded to products with an average rating of 3.75 stars or higher, the AndroidGuys Smart Pick recognizes a balance of quality, performance, and value. It stands out in design, innovation, and user experience, delivering great functionality at a competitive price. On the other hand, power users should probably look elsewhere, and I suspect they bowed out ten minutes ago.

The Poco M7 Pro 5G is a smartphone made from the reheated parts of last year’s mid-range devices. Given the general quality of these, the end product still turns out to be worthy of some attention. It has great battery life, good performance and a nice screen plus speakers for a low asking price. However, it isn’t without its pitfalls. The design is dull, the cameras are in need of some tweaking and HyperOS is very likely to continue heavily dividing opinion. It’s a good budget phone option, but there are certainly better options without having to look too far.

Personally, I wouldn’t buy it, but I’m a power user who reviews a half dozen phones a year. This could be a great phone for your kids (if you’re one of those parents) or for your own aging parents. It would be like handing down your old Nexus or LG device from 2016, except with some of 2025’s bells and whistles. At under $300, this is a great purchase, and at the very least, it will remind you of the Wild West days of Android, when software stutters and bloatware infested everything.

The smartphone market is so saturated nowadays that companies try to think of ways to cover even the smallest patches of unallocated space. This might sound complicated, and it sometimes is. Take Motorola, for example. The brand has tons of models, series, and variations in every imaginable price point. The same thing can be observed with Poco. The brand started as a budget Xiaomi spin-off, but this year Poco has an Ultra that costs 600 euros. Well, the M7 Pro follows the main Poco idea; there's nothing Pro about this model. It's a budget phone. In a nutshell, the display is quite good, and the battery life and charging are also pretty decent. But in this price range, there are so many options that the M7 Pro might have a hard time making any impression.

The Poco M7 Pro, for the money, is good value. It offers several upgrades over its predecessor and is a capable performer. The large AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, good primary rear camera, and decent performance make it a top contender among other phones in the segment. The software and lowlight camera performance are probably the most annoying things about the phone. Otherwise, this is a solid budget mid-range smartphone. As for alternatives, you could go for the Motorola G64 (Review), which offers slightly better performance and better software.

For its starting price of Rs. 14,999 for 6GB /128 GB (Rs 16,999 for 8 GB/ 256 GB), which can also be reduced by offers, the Poco M7 Pro is a superb option for anyone looking for a decent 5G phone without any major compromises. The phone delivers a beautifully bright and speedy display, stereo speakers, steady performance, a great main camera, impressive battery life, and sturdy build as well. Its drawbacks (a slightly clouded UI, ordinary second camera) are not deal breakers. It faces competition from the CMF Phone 1, which comes with a good main camera, stand-out design, and a beautiful display, and the Redmi 13, which brings a 108-megapixel main sensor to the camera battle. However neither of them comes close to the overall package that the Poco M7 Pro provides.

Like the previous model M6 Pro, the Xiaomi M7 Pro would be the best choice for an average user. Besides this, it can be recommended to anyone whether you want multitasking or gaming. Moreover, the device takes a huge leap from its predecessor, which makes the M7 Pro a value-packed deal. It has a higher refresh rate, a long-lasting battery, and a performance-driven chipset. After examining all of the aspects of the Poco M7 Pro, the phone didn’t disappoint during its usage. However, noise is visible during lowlight photography. If the camera is a deal-breaker for you, then it might not be the most optimal choice. Instead, you can choose the Samsung Galaxy M35 as it brings better camera quality, bloatware-free UI, and many other features. Apart from this, there are many other reliable options available in the market. So, pick a phone that suits your requirements.

For its asking price of Rs 14,999 for the base model with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, the Poco M7 Pro is a good pick for anyone looking for a new smartphone under Rs 15,000 and wants a phone with all-day battery life, smooth performance, and a good display for an enhanced multimedia experience. While the lack of extended software support and a sub-par macro camera is a bit of a letdown, the whole device in itself feels like a compelling package, especially for the asking price.

The Poco M7 Pro 5G makes a solid case for itself in its price point, offering a mix of features that cater to everyday users. For cameras, it has a Sony LYT 600 sensor, capable of capturing impressive photos in good lighting conditions. The addition of a 5,110mAh battery with 45W fast charging is a significant upgrade, ensuring a full day of moderate to heavy use and a quick recharge when needed. Design-wise, the Poco M7 Pro keeps things ergonomic and stylish. The two-tone finishes, particularly the Lavender Frost variant, add a premium touch. Despite its 6.78-inch display, the phone feels comfortable to use and not overly bulky. Practical features like an in-display fingerprint sensor, dual stereo speakers, and an IP64 rating round out the package nicely.

Poco has put a lot of thought into this phone that punches well above its weight. At a starting price of Rs 14,999, it feels like Poco has hit the sweet spot for folks on a budget, who don’t want to compromise on features or performance. The phone's design, while safe and typical of Poco, stands out with its ergonomic build and gorgeous two-tone finishes, especially the Lavender Frost colourway. Using the phone daily feels comfortable, and it doesn’t feel like you’re lugging around a bulky device despite a 6.78-inch display. The addition of practical features like an in-display fingerprint sensor, dual-stereo speakers, and an IP64 rating shows that Poco hasn’t cut corners. The display was a surprise package for me.

At Rs. 9,999, the Poco M7 5G is one of the most value-for-money offerings currently available in India. It offers support for 5G connectivity and has a familiar-looking design, and offers decent camera performance during the day. Battery life and charging speeds are also on par with other similarly priced smartphones. It's disappointing to see the Poco M7 5G launch with Android 14 when Android 15 has been out for several months when its biggest rival — the Samsung Galaxy F06 5G — ships with the latest version and is slated to receive four Android OS version upgrades. Other alternatives to the Poco M7 5G include the Redmi A4 (Review), Redmi 14C 5G, and the Moto G35 (Review).

The POCO M7 currently retails for Rs 9,999 for the 6GB + 128GB variant and goes up to Rs 10,999 for the 8GB + 128GB configuration. The device nails essentials and offers a smooth 120Hz display, decent battery life, satisfactory daylight photography and good software support. Its key rival at this price is the Tecno Spark 30C (review). Both phones are evenly matched in terms of performance and battery life, though the Spark 30C has the advantage in low-light photography. However, it doesn’t come with a compatible charger in the box, which adds to the overall cost. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly phone with a great display and good longevity, the POCO M7 is definitely worth considering.

The POCO M7 5G is a decent phone that you can consider as a daily driver, if the usage is limited to essential tasks. If someone is looking for a valued proposition that they can rely on, is good for calling, some video streaming, and listening to music or playing casual games like Candy Crush then this smartphone might be the right pick.
