Oukitel U15S review: A combination of wrong choices

After my time with the device, I came to the conclusion that it didn't have much going for it, except for the sleek looks and sturdy build. At the $199 price point currently available on Amazon US, there are vastly better smartphones to choose from, with users not finding it too difficult to pass on this device.

Toshiba's latest is a good looking mid-range notebook

This Toshiba machine initially impressed with good looks and a light, slim construction, but it falls behind the competition in key areas. Its Core i5 chip isn't as fast in applications or in games as competitors, and its ergonomics and battery life aren't great either. Toshiba's AMD-powered S50D has a similarly poor screen, but its better power levels and cheaper price (£480; about $799, AU$860) mean it's a superior option to Toshiba's Intel-equipped L50.

Overall, the Toshiba Satellite L50 wasn't as fast as we'd hope it would be. The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 is the better choice if you can afford it, as it provided better performance and had a superior keyboard and touchpad.

Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1DV review: slim and light budget laptop offers decent performance
Source: Tech Advisor

It certainly has its flaws, but a healthy price cut means that the L50 looks better value for money. It's not particularly fast but it can handle basic computing work perfectly well, and the slimmer, lighter design of this new model means that the Toshiba L50 is a bit more portable than most of its low-cost rivals. Its larger battery doesn't help its runtime and in benchmark tests it's slower than last year's model despite taking essentially the same components.
