The Crosscall Action-X5’s IPS display performed best in indoor conditions, with acceptable readability and color reproduction, that was well suited for basic functions like web browsing (even though scrolling was not very smooth) and watching SDR videos, where the brightness was correct and details were well-rendered. The device was not well-suited for more demanding uses such as watching HDR10 and ultra HD videos, or gaming because of a lack of smoothness and visible aliasing. However, the device showed no flicker. For a device that was designed to be used outdoors, the Crosscall Action-X5 display was not well suited for outdoor conditions. Reading the screen outdoors was very difficult when the device was held at an angle. Also, users wearing polarized sunglasses will find that they have to hold the phone in a landscape position to read anything on the screen because the display turns black in portrait position.

The latest model, the Action-X5, is no exception and is targeted at outdoor lovers and athletes. With an 48MP primary camera and a 13MP ultra-wide — no tele lens or bokeh mode — things look pretty simple in the camera department compared to some other devices in Crosscall’s price range.
